     It saw her in concert three times. I remember at one concert she said she had just turned 40. Her gift to herself was a pair of red western boots. She was wearing them.

       in 1975-76 I worked with her first husband. She was really a kid back then. They lived in a tiny house on the edge of the country with a huge cottonwood tree in the back that was magic on evenings like this. I remember this skinny girl working on songs and pages of ideas in a big notebook. She was très pétulant to say the least. We knew she was bound for fame.

       I found her when I read that she had won a folk album Grammy for Other Voices, Other Rooms. It is among my favorite all time albums.
