    Loved him on the TV cop show. He also sang in the musical, “The Fantastics”, where this song came from.

      He actually won a Tony award for the play Promises, Promises. He was more known as a Broadway star before Law and Order. He was the first performer to sing this song. When he died, the Broadway marquees were dimmed for him.
