    in 1971 Canned Heat was performing at the U. Texas “Fall Mall Ball” on the east mall. I and a friend sat down in a circle of people who were passing a joint. He sat directly across from me. When the guy to my right tried to pass it to me my friend across the circle was shaking his head “NO” with big eyes. So I tell the guy trying to hand me the joint “no thanks” and just then a big cop reaches down and grabs the guys arm and arrests him. They busted everybody the saw take a hit. Lucky I hadn’t made it over to the kegs yet…

      That is a great story. I hope you thanked your friend for shaking his head no. That cop was a bit of a sneak just waiting to mail those other guys.
