OMG Kat there is so much going on in this clip starting with the introduction by the criminal Jimmy Savile. Then we have Rod “backed” by The Faces whoare messing around while miming. And who is “playing” the mandolin? None other than John Peel

At that time Rod and the Faces were at the height of their powers. I have a vivid memory of recording a live broadcast in April 1973 when John Peel introduced the lads on a BBC radio broadcast

Now let’s fast forward 50+ years and last week they announced that in early September there will be a deluxe 8 CD release of the Faces at the BBC including the April 73 show which is fab

I was a massive fan of the band, I first saw them at the Oval in 71, went to the Empire Pool Wembley in 72 and then again in 73 at the Granada Cinema in Sutton. At the last show Rod said, “you’re not just going just sit there are you” ? The charge was on and I ended up 6 rows from the front standing on a chair

    Phew !

      My Dear Hedley,
I always try to find a video rather than just an audio file. This was my favorite of all the ones found in this search. I knew it was around their heyday, but I didn’t realize how much is in this video.

I could not name more than a couple of songs by Rod and The Faces though I could name many by solo Rod.

You seem to have an instinct about music, seeing all these groups before they become THE GROUPS. You also lived in the perfect spot for music.
