”Everybody likes a roller coaster ride.”
The sun hasn’t yet appeared, but it is supposed to later. Right now it is damp and in the mid 60’s. We have a breeze.
I remember the first time I stayed up until the TV station ended its day. I watched a jet flying through the clouds while a poem about slipping the bonds of Earth played in the background. I was thrilled about being up so late. My mother called it the wee hours of the morning. I thought she said whee.
I remember my last rides on the roller coaster at Paragon Park Nantasket, on the old wooden coaster called the Giant Coaster. I’ll never forget the sounds as it clanked up that first huge hill. My friends and I heard it had been sold and would be dismantled so we knew we needed to ride it for my last, and for my friend, her first, time. I didn’t tell her about the hill going down. She screamed at the top of the hill even before we started going down. She screamed the whole ride and kept banging into me. I held on as tightly as I could to the front bar to keep myself from banging against my side of the car. I loved that ride even with her screaming. To give her credit, she rode a couple of times more with much less screaming.
I remember riding on Edaville Railroad. My roller coaster friend and I went one summer. Mostly the riders were kids with their parents. They knelt on the seats and looked out the windows. I did the same thing on the subway trains. We also went to the train museum. Our last stop was for ice cream.
My dogs keep disappearing. I’m never sure if they are out or upstairs napping on my bed. I hate to call them and interrupt their napping if they are upstairs. Sometimes I stand on the deck hoping to see them in the yard. Nala is the one who might be out as Henry is a bit of a sloth. I have been finding chewed sticks on the hall and the living room floors. I have no doubt how they got into the house.

Question for your other readers… does the music begin playing FOR EVERYTHING automatically when you open the Coffee page? There were 7 songs playing at once today. I don’t believe I have any settings I can change and just have to find the song and pause it. But maybe there’s some setting you need to turn on or off at your end. (It’s always something as Roseann Roseannadanna used to say)

Sometimes they do. I just make sure the sound on my”device” is on mute when visiting Kat. And then un-mute once the page is fully loaded.

Hi Kat,
Today we had clear skies and a hi temperature of 96°. The rain, thunderstorms, and tornadoes have taken a break. Yesterday, I took my daughter and spouse to the airport to fly to Travers City Michigan. My daughter’s best friend from high school is getting married tomorrow in Travers City. I have never been there but my wife says it’s fabulous. Because it’s located on the upper peninsula of the state she said it doesn’t get dark until late. This weekend I am all alone.
I always considered being permitted to stay up late as a passage to adulthood. Besides New Year’s Eve, I occasionally was allowed to watch the Tonight Show with Jack Paar.
Even today I refuse to ride on a roller coaster of any kind. For my 40th birthday we went to Disneyland in California. I refused to ride on Space Mountain, but my wife did. While waiting for her to exit the ride, I went to the men’s room. There was a Japanese tourist who was rinsing out his camera bag at the sink because he used it to barf into while on the ride. 😦

Hi Bob,
You might as well be in Ghana with that high a heat. We are in the middle of a great weather trend. Today it is bright, sunny and 73°. That’s great that your daughter gets to go to her best friend’s wedding. She must have been thrilled. You get to do whatever you want this weekend!!
I know I was around 10 or 11 the first time I made it to TV sign off. I didn’t do it often. I don’t remember when I stayed up for New Year’s Eve, but I remember watching Guy Lombardo.
I even went on the loop coaster by myself. I was with my mother at Busch Gardens. She waited and held my stuff.
I laughed at that poor guy!!
