Were messrs Becker and Fagen being creepy ? Possibly so. I had waited anxiously for the next Steely Dan album after Pretzel Logic, an almost perfect disc. So came 35 minutes that was Katy Lied and I was disappointed.
But it was Steely Dan, there were some brilliant albums and some equally brilliant shows. Once Walter left us, Fagen tried to tour as Steely Dan but it was a shadow of that magical duo and friends including Dias and Skunk Baxter
Great pick Kat
MDH,
I find that seldom, if ever, do magical groups sound the same after any shakeup. Better is that they form new groups which then have magic of their own. I always think about Buffalo Springfield. They were together only 2 years and look what they recorded! They were one of my all time favorites, but the magic continued with Crosby, Stills and Nash then with CSN&Y.
