“I reckon being ill as one of the great pleasures of life, provided one is not too ill and is not obliged to work till one is better.”

Today is cloudy, hot and humid. It will be in the mid 80’s but will drop to the 60’s tonight. The rain, a remnant from Ida, will be here on Thursday. The winds could gust up to 40 mph, and the storm could drop 3 inches or 4 inches of rain. That’s another reason (think excuse) not to wash the kitchen floor: more dog paw prints from the upcoming rain. I’m glad I grocery shopped yesterday.

Today I have a malaise. My stomach is bitterly complaining about something. It can’t be dinner as I actually had a salad. Last night was an unquiet sleep, a portend of this morning. I’m wearing track shoes (symbolism here) so I can sprint to the bathroom. The dogs watch me from the hall. That too is unsettling.

On the shoe/slipper front, I didn’t find it, but I haven’t yet checked through the brush in the backyard. I’m really missing my slipper.

I did go to the dump yesterday as I didn’t want the trash to sit in my car until Thursday, the next time the dump is open. A nice man helped me lug the heavy litter bags from the car to the big receptacle.

Nala chewed on my back scratcher. The five teeth have become three with spaces between them where there were no spaces. The scratcher was in one of the baskets under the den table top. Nala finds the three baskets under the table a rich hunting ground.

When I was a kid, Duke, our boxer, chewed a few things during his puppy days. Those few things included the upholstery over the windows of my father’s car and a roast beef though my brother and I managed to save it, and nobody noticed the teeth marks. Nala has no preference and no standards for stolen goods. Paper, cans, newspapers and so many more strange items are among the missing. I know she’s taken something when she rushes out the dog door and ignores my call.

My plans for today are simple: sit around, watch a little TV, read a bit and nap.

Nala and Alma are very much alike when it comes to chew things. I have still not found any of my slippers 🙂 🙂 I have however found her food bowl! Alma is losing her baby teeth now so anything will be accepted as chew toys, I don’t have many plastic pots to plant flowers in left soon 🙂 🙂

We’ve had chilly mornings with fog but warm and nice days here and they say that at least the warm and nice days will stay for a while 🙂

    Have a great day!

    Christer.

      Hi Christer,
Nala chewed the plastic pots off my deck. I suspect she hauled away and chewed my slipper. She just loves to steal stuff and chew. She is into pine cones and brings them inside where she chews them up. I find pieces of pine cone all over downstairs.

I just turned on my AC. The house is just too hot, 77˚. The cool of tonight can’t come fast enough.

      Enjoy your evening.

    Hi Kat,

Today is just a warmer version of yesterday. I can’t believe how quickly the summer has gone by. It’s already Labor Day weekend. 😦 I enjoy the summertime more than any other time of the year. If I had lots of money I would probably enjoy living in Hawaii.

You have a kleptomaniac canine on your hands. I won’t suggest doggy jail again but that’s one way to stop her. Probably, any time you let her out to relieve herself she would probably grab something on the way out or on the way back. 🙂

You have a lot of willpower. If I was home alone these many months I would be the size of two houses. When I’m home I am a snacker. In Yiddish it’s called a Nosher from the word Nosh or snack. I can go through an entire package of Oreo cookies in one two day weekend. I would accompany that with a large bag of pretzels, chips or crackers. If I lived alone the police would eventually find my dead body surrounded by empty ice cream containers and empty bags of junk food. That’s the way to go. 🙂

      Hi Bob,
We had far more sun today than yesterday, but it is more humid, nasty humid. I guess it is nearing the Ida rain time. The summer did go quickly. I would not want to live where it is hot all year. Winter is a pain in the butt sometimes, but I like the change from hot to cold.

As I told you, Nala takes stuff when I’m home more than when I’m out. I watched her take some cardboard from the recycle bin right in front of me the other day. She likes to chew what she steals.

My mother aways used the word nosh. It is how I know what it means.

I think being home alone helped. I didn’t have to cook for anyone else if I wasn’t hungry. I also like snacks. A grocery order was just delivered. I bought chocolate chip cookies, Ruffles and some ice cream. I will go slowly. They will have to last as I won’t shop for goodies again for a few weeks.

Who needs slippers when you can walk on socks. Yes, it’s socks times again, the barefoot season ended last week. I already miss summer.
    Get well soon!

I am barefooted right now. It is still far too hot for socks. My feet would sweat along with the rest of me.

      Thanks!
