“Never dance in a puddle when there’s a hole in your shoe (it’s always best to take your shoes off first).”
Today is pretty but already hot. It is 86˚ and humid. I’m not going anywhere. I doubt I’ll even get dressed. Today is a good day to stay in the cool house and maybe read or watch a movie. I have cheese, and I have crackers. I have ice cream. I’m content.
Both dogs came back inside panting heavily. It took a while for Nala to settle down for her morning nap. Henry is barking. It could be because a car went by, a walker walked by, my neighbor checked his yard or someone slammed a car door. Henry is the dog that cries wolf.
Both dogs have well dog visits together later in September. Henry needs a variety of shots. Nala needs to be seen. I have all her vet records to give them. I hope having Nala in the car with him will help Henry enjoy the ride more.
I have jumped into the plot of Charlotte’s Web. I know where all the baby spiders are, my house. They are threading their webs from plant to plant on the windowsills and on chairs leg to leg. The webs are small as are the spiders. They haven’t woven me a message yet, but I keep looking.
I have become a vampire. The nurse called from the doctor’s office to give me the results of my pre-physical blood tests, but I already knew. She said my vitamin D is in the dumps, a medical term I hadn’t heard used before in quite the same way. I am now taking a heavy regimen of vitamin D. I suppose I could sit in the sun for a while, but it is just too hot.
When I was a kid, I had two pairs of shoes, school shoes and play shoes. The school shoes doubled as church shoes. I never wore my school shoes outside when I played. I had ingrained in me that school shoes and playtime should never meet. I always changed out of school clothes as soon as I got home.
I have winter shoes and summer shoes, a pair of each. I have many more shoes than that, but I don’t wear them much. Mostly I still wear my wool clogs thus mixing summer and winter, but their future is bleak. My big toe has pushed through. Where’s the duct tape?

Hi Kat,
Today’s weather is a repeat of yesterday with about seven or so degree cooler. Yesterday we reached 99° today the temperature will top out at about 91°.
Taking both dogs to the vet together should be an entertaining experience. All of my dogs knew the route to the vet and began freaking out before leaving the car. 🙂 Usually, I had to drag them into the front door by their leashes. An eighty pound Grayhound can resist moving like pulling an anchor.
Last month I went to the doctor for my annual physical. I didn’t want to go, but my doctor refused to renew my blood pressure medicine unless he could squeeze some money from my insurance company. My wife was expecting the worst from my blood work, but everything came back in the normal range. 🙂
There’s a new book out called, “4,000 Weeks”. It’s about time management. The average lifespan is only about 4,000 weeks. When you describe it in weeks instead of years it sounds like life is too short. My weeks just flyby at the speed of light. Of course, if that were true, then time would stand still. 🙂

Hi Bob,
it is already cooling down so I have shut off the AC and opened the windows. The high tomorrow will be 74˚ and the low in the mid 60’s. It sounds like a nice day.
Boxers are so stubborn they will stand their ground. Henry hasn’t liked the car since I got him. The only ride he doesn’t seem to mind is the short one to the vet’s office. I have no idea how Nala does in the car.
Most insurance companies demand a yearly office visit. Even the vet made me take Henry to see her after he had been taking the meds for a year. How does your doctor get money for prescriptions from your insurance company? The only time my doctor has talked to mine was when there was a problem in that they refused a medication. He gets nothing from Blue Cross.
I used to have very little time and too many things to do. Now I have all the time in the world and am getting nothing done. That’s funny!

My doctor wouldn’t renew my prescription unless I came in for a physical. I’m fine but he wanted to get them to pay for my physical before renewing the Rx.

I have a co-pay for my physical. Not much to be had from me.

Cold and rainy but a great day nevertheless. Concerts for free in the neighborhood, just a few minutes by bike. Local Jazz, Pop and more and a silent mystery movie backed by a local Jazz hero. Oh how I missed live music! Food and beer wasn’t bad either. It’s time for bed now, my pillow is calling…

Birgit,
The good weather will continue tomorrow, but it will be much cooler.
Many cape towns have town bands and neat bandstands where the bands play on one of the weekend evenings. I think the Melody Tent in Hyannis has music now, but it is expensive to buy tickets.
I’ll take any celebration!!

John D. Rhodes is the source. If you check the comments below the picture, you’ll always find the source of the quote.

Kat,
I think I’ve always been a vampire. The weather is odd here– sort of overcast, and a strange color. I’m looking for a message too.I keep their webs up, but do they cacth flies? NO! Do they write me a message, NO! Does my cat like to try to catch them. NO! I’m very confused.
Many concerts have been cancelled because of the new strain.
I really want my car-Coco back. The police called and said they were looking, and it is most likely they will find her.

Lori,
I used to read on the deck, but it was under an umbrella so it probably doesn’t count.
Usually I just drive from my house to one particular place then back again. I just don’t have the opportunity to be in the sun.
Nala will snap at flies trying to catch them. She never does I do with a rolled magazine.
Good luck on your car!!
Not much on the cape this year. Rumor has it the best ticket in town was for the ukulele concert Mondays on the Hyannis green Just saying…
Sleep well.

I really don’t want Your temperatures but I wouldn’t complain if it was a bit warmer here, it’s around 55,4F here now and it’s raining as well. It’ll be warmer again already tomorrow but both yesterday and today the radiators are on, if for no other reason the cottage gets damp and that make the chilly weather feel even worse.
I have lots of Charlottes in my cottage, they catch flies and therefore are my friends 🙂 No messages here either 🙂 🙂
Have a great day!
Christer.

Christer,
I don’t even want my temperatures either. I’m just glad I don’t live in Boston where it has been so much hotter than here.
The heat will be back later this week. I’m not looking forward to it.
I let the spiders live also. I even take any in the sink out and free them. I do remove the most obvious webs.
Enjoy your weekend.

J,
I started posting the source there when I got a comment asking me to cite the source of that day’s quote. She was the one who suggested I post it.
I never heard of him before either. Thanks!

Hi Kat,
The spiders are free to be in my house mostly because it’s an old house and all the pipes come up from the cellar through the floors. It’s difficult to keep the cellar critters from following them. The spiders catch them for me.
I expect gleaning the yard for Nala’s stolen treasures may help with the vitamin D deficiency a little bit.
Yesterday was brutally hot and humid up here. In the morning, I took Rocky and Piki Dog to the lake for a walk but it was so bad, my route was from tree shadow to tree shadow. I gave it up pretty quickly. Today is so much better. It was almost chilly by the lake early this morning. Such a difference. I’ll take it.
Enjoy the day.

Hi Caryn,
I don’t mind the spiders, but I do mind their webs. I never want my house to turn into Mrs. Haversham’s place.
I just caught her stealing cans from the recycle trash She was thinking this is a great game of what can I steal without getting caught. The yard has a few more papers, but I’m waiting another couple of days to do clean up.
It will also be a nice day tomorrow then the heat will be back. I thoroughly enjoyed today. It got so cool I shut the windows.
Enjoy your Sunday.
