John D. Rhodes quote
August 27, 2021 at 2:38 pm
I used to fly the CEO of a large oil company around in a small Cessna Citation jet. This airplane didn’t have a Freon AC system and it would get really hot inside in the summer time. One summer day we picked him up at DFW airport and had a long ground delay. The temperature inside the airplane was really hot. Our chief pilot was flying with me. When the CEO yelled up to the flight deck, “Make it colder”. The chief pilot yelled back, “Give me $10,000 and I can make it colder”. The CEO always had holes in the soles of his shoes. 🙂 This CEO was so tight that he could squeeze a penny and Lincoln would scream.

I’m surprised you didn’t recognize this picture. The hole in the shoe became a celebrity. It is on Adlai Stevenson’s foot.

OMG, I didn’t even recognize him. Time marches on.
