“Nothing is permanently perfect. But there are perfect moments and the will to choose what will bring about more perfect moments.”

Last night I slept easily and for a long time. I think my various wounds are healing so I don’t groan and wake myself up as often. Nala slid off the bed this morning because the top egg crate had drifted and a bit was over the edge. She looked shocked. Henry leapt off from the bottom of the bed. That dog can jump. I took my time getting out of bed. When I did, I was pleased to find my side didn’t hurt anymore. That’s progress I’ll take.

I have no appointments today so it is a stay in my comfies day. I was out three days this week, more than enough. I do need a dump run so maybe tomorrow though it is supposed to rain.

The day is already hot, 84˚, but the humidity is so bad the day feels far hotter. My AC is blasting. Tonight will get cooler, down to 69˚. I hope the humidity is gone.

Life continues in a different way. I wear a mask in medical places. I don’t need to wear it anywhere else by choice. Some people still wear masks in grocery stores. I wonder if they are unvaccinated or just being extra safe. Neither one gives me second thoughts. I just finish shopping and then go home. I prefer home not because of the pandemic but because my home is my favorite place. I love how casual it is. Dinner is never timed. Nobody needs my table. There is no dress code. I get to stay in my summer comfies. I can eat whenever. The kitchen never closes. I like staying home.

Last night felt right, almost ideally right. It was a good night. The house had cooled from the air conditioning. The dogs were sleeping, one on each side of the couch. Jack had come down almost to the bottom of the stairs to get some loving, some head scratches and pats. I went back to reading my iPad. The TV was blaring for background noise. Nothing was on I wanted to watch. I was missing watching the postponed Red Sox-Yankees game, but I found a few movies on Tubi filmed just for me. I had what I call a catch as catch can dinner. I just checked the fridge and use what I find. Last night it was some cheese and crackers and some tabouleh on pita. Nothing took time to cook, just to open. Dinner was delicious, perfect.

    Hi Kat,

Glad to hear that you are healing.

My company’s policy on masks is, if you are fully vaccinated you don’t have to wear a mask. In Texas it’s strictly the honor system. Our Governor, Abbott the dumbass, doesn’t want his most conservative constituents to feel embarrassed to have to wear a mask and show everyone that they are too stupid to get vaccinated. I wear mine in the common areas because I don’t know who is or is not vaccinated. We get clients from other countries. Do I want to spread Covid-19 virus accidentally to my numerous unvaccinated coworkers? I’m a nice guy. 🙂

So much for the rant of the day. 🙂 Today’s weather is again like yesterday and probably tomorrow. Another cold front is headed our way which will bring more rain Sunday and Monday. This has been the weirdest summer that I can recall.

      Hi Bob,
It is the honor system here as well except in medical places where masks are still mandated. I think it is the same everywhere though there have been conversations about the passport. We know there are dishonorable people so I know there are unvaccinated not wearing a mask. I don’t have sympathy for them now that they are reasons for the upward surge of the virus. They made the choice.

Today is back to hot and humid. I can do with the heat but not the humidity. It makes doing anything a hassle. Tomorrow will be the same. It will get cooler at the beginning of the week.

      Have a good weekend.

    Is that Grace’s mother’s photo?

No, it is one of my grandmothers from the family I lived with in Bawku during my live-in. She was one of the few who remembered me.

    Hi Kat,
Just checking in. I wear a mask everywhere I go. I want to get a Woody Guthrie mask, that says ” This Machine Kills Fascists” I know I’d be really popular. But this is Berkeley, so I suppose I could get away with it..
    Take Care,
    Lori and Ms. Cookie

      Hi Lori,
I think the healthiest thing you can do for yourself is to wear a mask all the time. I don’t have any underlying problems so no masks smoky. I’m happy not to wear one.

That would be a great mask!

      Stay safe,
      Kat and all the rest

Cool and foggy again this morning and I was right about the flies, most are gone now when they’ve cut down the grass and wrapped plastic around it 🙂 I did bring the mosquito hat just in case but only wore it because I was too lazy to carry it 🙂 🙂

I did my errand yesterday and now I’m planning on going to my friend with the garden center on either Monday or Tuesday.

Alma is really bad in jumping 🙂 🙂 She can’t for her life jump up on the sofa and it looks rather difficult for her to climb up on it, I guess that’ll change soon enough since she just is three months old still.

It’ll be hot again today but a cold front will arrive during the night and tomorrow we’ll have really comfortable temperatures again 🙂

    Have a great day!

    Christer.

      Hi Christer,
It was ugly all day. I stayed inside in the cold house. We’re supposed to have rain tomorrow, but I’m skeptical. It seems that most storms go right by us.

Nala is a consummate thief. She was outside with some paper as he stole from somewhere. It is not from the trash bag as that is in the car ready for the dump. I have to keep an eye on her.

Alma is still such a baby. Nala is 14 months old and is still a puppy.

It will be cooler next week.

      Enjoy your day!
