Allan Smethurst was quite a story. He “descended” upon the music scene around 1966 and unbelievably found his way on to the BBC the charts and our attention with a series of folk songs including “Have you got a light boy”
It all ended around 1970 when alcoholism took over, he went bankrupt and saw out his last 20 years in a Salvation Army facility.
I sorta remember he performed in a mail man’s uniform

I like odd songs. This one was an easy choice.
After I read your comment, I felt bad for the guy. That’s a sad end to his life.

Kat, Apparently he lived quite happily at the Sally Army. Dont know what happened on the battle with the bottle.
