My friend was a math teacher. She says I use algebra all the time without realizing it.

These calculations on the board don’t make sense without context.
If the problem is 6/16=12/x then x=32.
The last line is either a mistake (wrongly shortened division of the above) or a new problem.
Then 3/8=6/x => 3x=48 => x=12.
And now to Covid spread calculations with exponential growth… π

I looked at that and even I thought it was wonky. It is no wonder the kid felt perplexed.
