I wasn’t game ready for Ladies of the Canyon. The big hit came with Court and Spark which completely blew me away. I was on the Joni train for quite a while anxious for Hissing Hejira and Don Juan’s- I was leaving clerking and heading to education and was happily situated in London.
I will arm wrestle you Kat over the issue of Joni’s finest as long as you don’t mind we singing Car on the Hill
MDH,
I had heard some of the songs from the first album, Song to a Seagull, but I didn’t hear the whole album until I found her second, Clouds, which was released a month before I left for Ghana. I listened so many times to this album and never tired of hearing her sing.
There were a few albums in the middle which didn’t thrill me. Mingus was one of those. Hejira was another. I did get back on the train. Night Ride Home is a favorite.
If everyone who claims they were at Woodstock where actually there, then the festival would have had to been attended by at least 100 million people. 🙂 I know ai wasn’t there.
Ted,
Her voice is magnificent here. It is without question an amazing “piece of work.” I found a wonderful site called Joni Mitchell’s ‘Woodstock’: Behind the Song.

I know open person who was there, and I don’t doubt him, but I can understand other people just telling a tall tail.

If I didn’t already believe that Joni is a genius, this song would prove it. What a piece of work.
