“The next time you see one of those squirrels go near my putting green, take a gun and shoot it”
The windows and doors are open. It is a bit cooler at 78˚ so I’m airing the house. Thundershowers are predicted for this afternoon. I’ll finish here and hurry to take my shower, my outside shower, before it rains. On second thought, why should rain make a difference?
Today is another lazy day because my only chores are to water the inside plants and repot a couple. I also need to take dinner out of the freezer. What will I choose? I’m leaning toward ground beef. I”ll figure the rest out later.
A spawn of Satan scared the heck out of himself and Henry. I let the dog out, but, unbeknownst to me, there was a spawn on the steps. It saw Henry first, and the spawn took off but fell in its haste to get away from Henry who finally saw the spawn running and took off after him. I could hear the rustling of the bed of leaves in the backyard then it was quiet. I knew the spawn had climbed out of danger. Henry, the defeated hunter, came home. I gave him a snack. It took out a bit of the sting out his ineptitude.
I can hear the birds and nothing else. Henry hasn’t barked once, an indicator that no marauders have gone by my house. Yesterday he barked so much he drove me crazy. The front door was shut because of the AC so he couldn’t see who was making the noise which had caught his attention. The back door was also shut so he couldn’t go out on his own to investigate. I had to keep getting up and letting him out at every bark. He barked wolf more than not though twice he barked at deliveries. Henry wanted his final out around 1:30. All he did was step to the deck, two steps down, look around the yard then turn around to come back inside. I was there at the door waiting to let him in because every night Henry checks the backyard before we go to bed.

Hi Kat,
It’s fairly livable up here today, too. The sky is brightly overcast which is keeping the temperature down a bit. The AC is off and the windows are open. It’s so nice to have fresh air for a change.
It’s trash day so the dogs have even more to bark at than normal.
Today’s errand was to return a package to the Amazon store. It arrived looking as though it had been tied to the bumper of the UPS truck and dragged across country. The contents were breakable and were in the box without packing material. I’m not even sure if all the contents had remained in the box. There were many gaps. They took it back without question.
There are lots of birds in the yard. Mostly grackles and English sparrows. The one bird we hear frequently is the juvenile red tail hawk whom the neighbors know as Baby Hawk. He’s very loud and constantly hungry. He does not appreciate that his parents are making him find his own food though they are watching over him and feeding him now and then.
Have a great day.

Hi Caryn,
The breeze keeps changing direction, but I don’t care. I’m just happy to have one which feels cool. I feel the same about the fresh air. It smells so wonderfully lush with the aroma of the greenery and the flowers. Besides, Henry loves being able to survey the neighborhood from the front door.
I have three things I should mail. One goes to Ryan’s two kids, an outside game. Another goes to Sarah’s kids, a new shirt each for school. The last to my friends in New Hampshire. I am loathe to admit it is a bag of their Christmas presents which I was holding till we saw each other but now I’ll mail.
I haven’t hung my feeders. Many were broken over the winter. I do have a new one and maybe one or two I can still use. I have seed. I just need energy.
Neat you have a hawk nest.
Enjoy your day!

Hi Kat,
It’s in the low 90s amd it’s humid. Our condo AC is down to 3 out of 4 compressors and they won’t get a replacement until next week. It’s not cold just cool but very humid. Tomorrow morning the movers come and we are trying to get everything together at the last minute of course. 😦
My next door neighbor has set up a humming bird feeder on our back shared porch which has sugar water in it. The only thing it draws are flies and mosquitoes. I have never seen a hummingbird in North Texas and I’ve lived here since 1965. The neighbors are from Bolivia, maybe they have hummingbirds down there. They also wash their produce on the porch with disinfectant to prevent Covid. I have no idea where that came from. But leaving it on the porch until they clean it also draws flies. 😦
Taking a break from filling boxes and throwing crap away. I’m amazed how much stuff we’ve collected in such a short time period. I think the person who dies with the most toys wins. 🙂

Hi Bob,
I didn’t need the AC most of the day, but by 7 o’clock the predicted rain hadn’t come; instead, the humidity rolled in and the air become uncomfortable. I turned on the AC, and it is still cranking, but now I can feel the cool air.
I have seen hummingbirds here. The small feeder was red, a color which attracts hummingbirds. I used sugar water as well, but the amount is so small I never saw flies or mosquitos at the feeder.
I don’t wash my produce, but my brother-in-law washes everything from the market: produce as well as cartons, jars and cans. My sister just chuckles at this.
I have lived here almost 45 years. I pity anyone going through this house.
Wow, moving came really fast. I wish you well tomorrow!!

We’re having one nice day before the rain will come back. Just enough warm and windy enough to keep flies calm. No chores to do but I have done some sowing of perennials and will continue to do so today.
Albin has calmed down when it comes to barking, he only barks when they come to pick up the trash or if a timber lorry pass by 🙂 He does however still make that strange howlibg growling sound when he see something run or if someone bikes so he can see it 🙂 🙂 Everyone have realised that he’s a winp though so anyone can come in to the garden without him disturbing them 🙂 🙂 🙂
Have a great day!
Christer.

Christer,
It is nice day here again but a hot day again. It will be in the low 80’s. I had hoped to open the house the way I did yesterday but one step outside convinced me to keep the AC running. You have me thinking I ought to drop by the garden center to pick up a few plants for some pots and the garden bed to fill a couple of empty spots I saw in the front garden.
If Albin has quieted down maybe Henry will. The problem is he doesn’t bark for the sake of barking. He hears something and barks, but then again, he is the only way I know a package has been delivered. I am tired of him barking when the guy across the street does yard qwork. That sort of barking drives me crazy.
Have a wonderful day!
