Another great voice cut off too soon.

I have been a Billie fan for the longest time. It was too soon.

When I was a kid I lived in a segregated city, Dallas Texas, but never gave much thought to how black people thought about their plight. Thinking back on it as an adult I can’t imagine how bad it must have been both physically and mentally. I’m sure that drinking and taking drugs helped get them through the pain of segregation. Unfortunately, the implicit prejudice has not gone away.

I don’t know how old I was (other than a chance encounter when I was 3) when I saw my first Black. I think there were one or two families in my town, none in my high school, and one lone Black in my college. I never thought about it. That wasn’t strange to me. It just was.

Even in the north black people were discriminated against. In the south it was the law while in the north it just done.

        I know that.

There were not many opportunities, but I volunteered with SNCC and rang doorbells.

    Billie Holiday πŸ™‚
I’m looking forward to see an open air music play about her life and music next weekend. I hope it takes place this time, last month it had to be cancelled.
    I miss live music.
    And the ocean…

      Hi Birgit,
I also hope you get your open air music. Being outside is safer than being inside.

The virus leaves then returns to some places with a vengeance. Places open then they have to close. The states are working hard, not so much the president. I think he was golfing today.

      I miss everything!
