“Eat clean to stay fit, have a burger to stay sane.”
Today’s musing will be short. I need to get out of the house. My sanity is at issue, but I really do have some errands so it works.
The day is partially sunny. It’s warm. The high will be in the low 70’s, the low in the 60’s. I’d love to have this weather every day. It’s perfect.
I gave Henry one of those chews he loves. He was eating it on the couch. A bit later he stood up and looked to the floor. That’s the sign he’s dropped it but can’t see it so he expects me to get it. I hunted and hunted under the couch. I was lying down to look but I saw nothing. I pushed my back scratcher underneath the couch. It unearthed Henry’s spawn of Satan. I wondered where that went. But after finding nothing else, I gave up. About five minutes later I saw Henry in the hall. It was in his mouth. I got punked by my dog.
When I was a kid, meals were usually around the same time every day except in the summer. That was more of a catch as catch can. It was a quick whirl in the kitchen to make a sandwich to go for lunch, but in the early evening, for supper, we sat down at the table usually without my father who worked a late day and my mother who usually ate at the counter. I don’t remember many of those suppers. I know we had corn and probably burgers or hot dogs. Tater Tots were big. My mother never served a salad except potato salad, the perfect accompaniment for a burger. I always opted for a cheeseburger. My mother topped it with the yellow cheese individually wrapped. I still order a cheeseburger, but the cheese is far more sophisticated. It’s often Monterey Jack.
I’m ready to face the world. I’ve showered so as not to be offensive, brushed my teeth so I can smile without food being stuck and have almost gotten dressed. It’s time.

I am thinking the same thing. Thank God for delivery!

Hi Kat,
The weather is the same as yesterday with a high in the mid to upper 90s.
When I was a kid my mother made lighter meals during summer, especially supper. Sometimes hot dogs or burgers but often salads of tuna, salmon or egg salad. We always had a green tossed salad with every supper meal because my paternal grandfather hated raw vegetables. He would ask my grandmother, “Do you think I’m a horse?” My father loved his tossed salads.
I enjoy my burgers grilled and thick enough to be cooked medium rare. Unfortunately, restaurant burgers are over cooked for safety reasons. For an inexpensive burger nothing is as good as an ‘In and Out burger’. Their burgers are far superior to MacDonald’s for about the same price. In and Out is a California company that only uses fresh ingredients and build their own supply depots. I don’t think In and Out burgers are available east of Texas.

Hi Bob,
No In and Our Burger here. I never heard of it. My burger spots are pubs. My favorite places include thin onion rings rather than fries. I haven’t had a burger in a while so I’m due.
We never had green tossed salad or any salads at dinner. My father was the original meat and potato guy. Potato salad was acceptable to him but only at barbecues. My mother made the best potato salad.
I never eat rare meat. I don’t like cutting it and seeing the red juice. I cook my burgers so they are mostly browned, and that’s how I order them.
It is totally cloudy now, and it is getting dampish, but no rain is in sight.

According to the following article there probably won’t be one on the East Coast.

By the sounds of it, I need to be depressed that the burgers aren’t moving east. They sound delicious!!

Speaking of ‘ready to face the world’, how is your eye/face doing now?

The black eye is gone but it is still sore. I’m thinking I won’t do that again.

Much the same weather here and yes I agree, this is a weather I could always have. I wonder if there is such a place? If so I would do my best to move there 🙂 🙂
It’s odd, I really like burgers but I rarely eat them. The last time I bought a burger must have been two years ago. It is the same with pizza. Well I do live far away from everywhere, so far thatb they don’t deliver food here so I guess that’s the biggest reason.
Have a great day!
Christer.

Christer,
I think burgers are my go to meal, and I often order them when I go out to eat. Throw on a tomato, some onion and maybe lettuce, and you have a wonderful dinner. I don’t make them at home much either except for summer barbecues.
Today is just so humid again, but the wind helps.
Enjoy your day!
