“Noblest of all dogs is the hot-dog; it feeds the hand that bites it.”
Today is dank and overcast, but it is cooler than yesterday and far less humid. Showers are predicted. The high will be 65˚.
I alternate between sweating far more than a lady should and then needing my sweatshirt because I’m cold. I haven’t had my morning coffee yet. I don’t feel up to par as my mother would have said.
My freezer is full, but I forgot to defrost anything. I miss my hot dogs. They are always my go to meal. My second go to meal is eggs. Those I have. I even think I have some bacon. Sounds like dinner!
I order in once a week. Last week it was a total meal with potatoes, meat, vegetables and warm rolls. It lasted two full dinners.
Yesterday I watched World War II movies, it being D-Day and all. Many were filmed during the war and served as rousing salutes. One movie, 1000 Plane Raid, I watched with a bit of nostalgia. The only other time I saw it was in Niamey, Niger during my Peace Corps days. The embassy there showed movies every Saturday night, and because I was always hungry for a movie on the big screen, I went to watch. That I stayed the whole time is a tribute to my forbearance. Last night, despite that memory from so long ago, I watched it again, in entirety. I’m now thinking my not feeling up to par might be a residual from watching 1000 planes raid, one really bad movie.
My plans for today are simple. Do nothing. I may shower, but I make no promises. After all, I’m not expecting company.

Hi Kat,
My daughter lost one her earrings so we ventured out to the Gallaria mall. It’s the first time we’ve been to the mall since they opened a couple of weeks ago. They closed again since last week because of the demonstrations. The mall was patrolled by men with bomb sniffing dogs. Everyone was wearing masks with lots of one way walkways and marks every 6 feet on the floor. We didn’t stay too long.
We also ate a late lunch in one of our favorite authentic Chinese restaurants. We were the only patrons because it was after two in the afternoon. This place has a chef that hand makes the soup noodles by swinging and stretching the dough until it’s got thousands of thin strands. The food was delicious.
The hot dog can be called a frank or a tube steak but no matter it’s a good quick meal. There is no Nathan’s anywhere near us, and therefore I have to suffer eating Costco hot dogs when I’m in the store. It’s one of the best cheap lunches around. You get about a nine inch hot dog with bun and a large soda for $1.50 including refills on the soda. You can dress it up with your choice of deli or yellow mustard, ketchup, onions, sauerkraut and pickle relish. If there’s no Costco, Sams Clubs offer the same thing at the exit.
Today we hit 96 agin under sunny skies.

Hi Bob,
I seldom go to a mall. The stores tend to be too generic. I like quirky. Around here Hyannis has the only malls. I don’t even remember the last time I was at a mall. Once in a while I drive through downtown Hyannis to see if there are any new stores but only if I have to be there for something else.
Chinese food is among my favorites. The same with Thai food. My favorite Thai restaurant has the best coconut shrimp and Thai ice coffee. If I go for take out, I start eating the shrimp on my way home. Lately I have had dinner delivered.
Even in Ghana I found hot dogs. They were in a can but it didn’t matter. They were delicious. Sadly, though, the dressings weren’t available. There might have been ketchup around but that is blasphemy: ketchup on a hot dog. I don’t like sauerkraut but everything else is welcome to top my dog. 🐕
it got chilly.

I don’t like Thai food at all. For one thing I have a genetic problem with cilantro. To me, my first cousin and my sister cilantro tastes terrible, like eating soap. Also, most Thai food is very spicy with peppers or has some version of curry. I never tasted a curry anything I liked. Except for Naan bread I don’t like any Indian food. 😦 That’s Indian, dot not feather. 🙂
The reason for the mall is that’s where the store that carried the earring she liked was located. Also, when it’s nearly 100 degrees outside walking around an air conditioned mall is good exercise.

Thai food is heavy on the cilantro so it is no wonder you don’t try it, but you can eat probably the appetizers, and they are delicious.
With the heat you have to abide each day, I’d hunt for AC too!
