“Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is knowing not to put it in a fruit salad.”

I heard the rain earlier. Since then it has stopped, but showers are still predicted. I have no inclination to go outside.

An extraordinary event happened last night. I was in the kitchen giving Henry and Jack some treats when I noticed Miss Gwen in the dining room. Yup, you read that right, Miss Gwen. That is the first time she has come down when all of us were there. I know she and Jack chase each other late at night. I’ve heard them. Carl Sandburg’s little cat feet does not describe the sounds of hefty animals running up and down the stairs.

Yesterday I did more around the house stuff. I changed my bed before the sheets grow legs and wander away. I dusted and didn’t use my sleeve. I think I’m going crazy in quarantine. I went out, but only to get my car inspected before the end of the month. That’s a big one crossed off my list. The dump sticker is next.

I need to bake another loaf of banana bread today. The three banana skins have reached the perfect stage of blackness. I also have the ingredients for lemon bread. If I’m going to use the oven, I might as well go whole hog.

Henry woke me up early when it was just getting light. He licked my hand and jumped on and off the bed over and over until he woke me up. I ignored him at first then I figured he really wants out. I went downstairs, let him out and then waited for him to come back to the door. I went back to bed, but I left the back door open in case Henry needed out again.

My diet of late has been deficient. I’m out of fresh vegetables and fruit. Last night I had cheese, good Irish cheddar cheese, and crackers. My BLT the other night is the closest I’ve been to vegetables since my last grocery delivery, a few, maybe three weeks ago. I’m thinking banana bread counts as a fruit.

I am doing nothing today. I have earned it after the last few days of cleaning and hauling and rearranging. I was going to wash the kitchen floor, but with the rain, Henry will only add to the paw prints on the tile. I am thankful for the rain.

    Well done, Miss Gwen!

We finally had rain yesterday. Just for about 30 minutes but at least the ground was wet for a short time. It’s dry again by now and we won’t get any rain the next days. It looks like we’ll have the 3rd dry and hot year in a row and unfortunately it’s not a surprise.

Enjoy your banana bread! It’s healthier than my dinner, leftover pasta, mint chocolate and beer today ๐Ÿ˜‰

      Birgit,
Finally! I know you’ve needed the rain. We are okay for now. A few years back much of the state was I drought. I hope the rain stays around.

I went out and bought some chocolate, but I did order veggies and some fruit for pick-up tomorrow.

    Hi Kat,

I hope you are healing nicely from your recent fall. Bananas are not my favorite fruit but I know that they are very good for your circular and digestive systems. As we approach summer the plums, peaches and nectarines come into season and I could just live on fruit. According to Mel Brooks, the 2,000 year old man, โ€œA nectarine is half a peach, half a plum and a heck of a fruitโ€. ๐Ÿ™‚ I agree and canโ€™t wait! I just had a bowl of strawberries which is also one of my go to fruits along with grapes.

Cats are very independent pets as you are aware. We canโ€™t have them because my wife is deathly allergic to their dander as well as everything that grows. Today was sunny again with highs in the low 90s again. If you take a globe and put a pencil on Dallas Texas and then rotate the globe to the west, the pencil will point to the middle of the Sahara desert when you cross the Atlantic Ocean. People were moving here before the Covid-19 because of no state income tax and the invention of air conditioning. ๐Ÿ™‚

      Hi Bob,
It has taken a while for the swelling to go down, but the black and blue is just about gone. I think bananas are amazing, and if you are traveling, they are safe to eat without washing. Funny, but I don’t eat plums, peaches or nectarines. I love strawberries and grapes and blueberries. I like to freeze the grapes in summer. They are wonderful on a hot day.

Cats are independent, and they know what they want and how to get it. They are easier to have than dogs. They never go out. At first I just had a couple of cats then the dog. Now I’m back to two cats and a dog.

What about melons and citrus fruits? They are completely encased like bananas except itโ€™s hard to carry a watermelon in your pocket. ๐Ÿ™‚

I also love melons and citrus. Watermelon is so great on a hot day, and I love watermelon salad.
