Phyllis Diller quote

I’m amazed how much woman’s fashion has changed from the 1950s. My mother never cleaned house in a skirt, heels, nylons nor an apron. She wore a house dress and house shoes. Once the 60s arrived and woman started wearing pants the picture above became obsolete.

When I was a college sophomore, we had the coldest winter. The school dress code then was dresses or skirts for women. The college decided to allow pants that winter. That was the end of dresses. Weather had forced the change.
My grandmothers cleaned while wearing house dresses and shoes too. My mother wore pants. The change was the norm.
