“Nightingales have something to sing, dogs, they find something to bark”

Today is lovely, sunny and warm. It is 60˚ and will even get a bit warmer. I have no set plans, no lists. The car is still filled with boxes, and I have added bags bound for the dump. The only problem is I really don’t have any ambition. I close my eyes when I go to the kitchen. There is no dust. I can’t see it.

I’m going to stop for a few provisions. My light cream is gone, and the cats need more variety in their canned food. I need something sweet.

I am watching a movie which supposedly takes place in Boston. Not one character has a Boston accent, realistic or otherwise. The names of towns are mispronounced. I can only watch a short while before I yowl.

Yesterday Henry drove me crazy. He barked most of the afternoon and during the evening. I was crazed. I went to check. When I opened the front door, nothing was there, no delivery trucks, no walkers, no stray dogs and not a single turkey. I have no idea why he was so insistent.

When I was a kid, I played CYO basketball. We practiced Saturday mornings. I remember my coach had been a marine. That’s all I remember about her. She made us wear high tops, black ones. She taught us basketball strategy, but she also taught us to cha cha. She brought a portable record player and set it up in the gym. She showed us the steps, divided us into couples and had us dance. I really think that is the last time I ever did the cha cha; however, should I be called upon, I will gladly demonstrate but only if my life depends on it.

    Hi Kat,

How often has the ability to Cha Cha prove useful? Dance lessons proved that I have two left feet and absolutely no rhythm. 🙂

Today is beautiful with a mixture of sun and clouds with temperatures in the high 80s. On our drive we stopped to get a burger at In and Out. For fast food burgers theirs are the best. Previous we had to go through the drive in and eat in the car. Today, we could order inside and eat on their patio. They had clear plastic shields at the order/playing area as well as the pickup line. All their employees were wearing masks and gloves. The dining room is still closed but it’s getting better.

According to the Dallas Morning News, as of this morning all the North Texas counties have reported 12,776 cases of Covid-19 and just 327 fatalities. This is an area with at least 4 million people. The entire State of Texas has had 43,254 cases and 1,176 deaths. All I can say is that figures don’t lie but liars figure. 🙂 Maybe the Swedes were right. I find it interesting that Conservatives are taking a liberal stand on social distancing and liberals are taking the most conservative stand.

      Hi Bob,
I admitted I haven’t danced the cha cha since that so long ago Saturday, but I live and hope.

We were in the 60’s today which is amazing as two nights ago we set a new low of 34˚, the old record was from the 1890’s. Nothing is open here still. Monday the governor will announce changes, if any.

Massachusetts has the third highest amounts of cases and deaths behind New York and New Jersey. People here are torn and still scared. Things are leveling which is a good sign.

What’s funny is that conservatives want to loosen any stay at home orders, and liberals want a more conservative approach to opening the economy.

Liberals are listening to the scientists. Conservatives are listening to Trump, “LIBERATE MICHIGAN!”

    Hi Kat,
Cha cha is the second dance that I was taught. The first was the jitterbug. My mother taught me both of them when I was a wee child. I have forgotten both them. If either proves necessary to preserve my life, I am lost unless I can show that salsa is just another form of either.
Today, Piki Dog had an attack of reverse sneezing. It lasted until after noon. It’s more annoying than prolonged barking at nothing which he also does. It was probably all the barking at nothing that finally cleared up the reverse sneezing.
It’s beautiful up here today. Finally spring weather. I’ll take it.
    Enjoy the day

      HI Caryn,
I can still remember the cha cha, easy steps. I doubt, though, I’d have any rhythm. I can’t remember the last time I heard a cha cha.

Henry drove me to distraction yesterday. I became a screaming maniac. He barked for no reason that I could see. He started barking this morning, and I went crazy. He stopped probably thinking I was crazy. He’d be right.

Beautiful here today, but I finally vacuumed and brought bags of trash to the car. Only one bag to go tomorrow. I am so glad the dust will be gone for maybe an hour or so.

It was lovely down here as well but not as warm. Seeing the sun again seems like a miracle.

      Rain tomorrow!

We never learned cha cha but we did learn how to dance polka and swedish folk danses 🙂 🙂 I’ve never used that in my entire life and I’ve always wondered why they had to teach it 🙂 🙂 🙂

Very mixed weather here today. Heavy showers, sunshine or just cloudy Strong wind sometimes and no winf´d at all other times 🙂 🙂 I’ll do very little for the rest of the day 🙂

    Have a great day!

    Christer.

      Christer,
I could probably dance a polka or rather years ago I could have (when I was young). I figure they just don’t want the traditional to die away so they teach folk dances. Sweden has such an amazingly rich folklore so a dance sounds right.

The day stayed beautiful. It is even warmish now. Tomorrow too will be nice. There is the possibility of a thunder storm but probably north of me.

      Have a wonderful day!
