This family looks like the Oakies who trekked to California during the dust bowl era of the 1930s. Remember the Grapes of Wrath.

I taught the book to high school seniors so I remember the plot and the Okies.
I saw the description of this picture: family out for a ride and a Sunday picnic, but I knew anyway. They have plenty of food, and their car isn’t carrying their belongings in the front or on the roof or in the back if we could see it.
