“I may be going nowhere, but what a ride.”

Today is the thirteenth day of rain for the month of April. That’s thirteen out of twenty-four. I’m thinking it’s time to change the weather nomenclature. This is now the rainy season. That means I will never be disappointed by days like today filled with dark clouds and rain; instead, I will celebrate another day by wearing a funny hat and blowing a horn out the front door. GO RAIN!!!!

Yesterday I made it to the dump. I had no choice. My car and trunk were filled with trash and bags of papers. I even had to drag some of the heavier bags to the car. The dump was filled so people had to wait to get to the open trash bins. I had to negotiate an orange cone shalom around the recycle bins to get to the trash. When I was done, I didn’t want to go home. Because this was my first time out in weeks, I decided to go for a ride. I decided to take the ocean road. I made a few observations.

I was surprised by the number of cars on the road, at least the main road. On my way to the dump, I could see that the Stop and Shop lot was looking pretty filled close to the store.

I was struck by how lovely most lawns and yards look. It is early for clean up around here, but I’m thinking yard work is now the second favorite reason to get people out of the house, grocery shopping being first. I saw a lot of people kneeling in front of flower beds and a few guys mowing. Driving as slowly as I was for no particular reason meant I got to see what I usually miss. One yard had what looked like a wasp metal sculpture winging off a tree stump. Beside the driveway of one house was a sign: Private Property, No U-Turn. Okay, that sounds sensible on the surface but this driveway was for a house in the middle of nowhere. I could think of no reason to u-turn in that driveway so I really wanted to, but the adult in me held sway.

The ocean looked cold and had small white caps close to shore. There were no cars in the beach lots. The restaurant and hotels were still in winter mode.

I stopped at Ring’s on my way home. I bought some chocolate, cold cuts, bread and cut fruit and vegetables. I was done. I went home.

    Hi Kat,

Isn’t there something about April showers and May flowers? I have never lived where their wasn’t municipal or private, dumpster, pickup of trash. I assume that that all of the cape residents are required to take their own trash to the dump. Do the Kennedy’s take their trash to a dump?

Today is another beautiful sunny day with the temperature at 88 degrees. As we go into May the temperature will eventually rise into the 90s by Memorial Day.

On today’s excursion in the car we found a Target store that had liquid hand soap but no hand sanitizers. An employee told my wife where she might find hand sanitizers. She replied that she didn’t want to go to that filling station because that’s where all the hookers hang out. 🙂

Later, I’m going to go online and apply for unemployment benefits. Because I’m furloughed I can collect. Why not?

      Hi Bob,
You can choose to get a dump sticker at around $150.00 or hire a private trash pickup company for I don’t know how much, but they are more expensive, and you’re still stuck bringing your trash bins to the roadside.

It has rained on and off all day. I’m content being home when it rains. I did silly around the house stuff like cleaning the stove top and read all afternoon.

I always have liquid hand soap around but I have only a travel size hand sanitizer. Good thing I don’t go out much.

      I’d collect if I could.

      im6,
The opening is unbelievable. I didn’t remember that about this song. I haven’t heard this in a long time. It is far more beautiful than I remembered.

Lovely warm sunny weather again with clear blue sky. Please send rain, we urgently need it!

It is raining again and has been on and off all day. We’d be glad to share. We need warmth. The average temperature so far is 15˚ below average. Cold!

The weather has been the opposite over here, lots of sun lately but it is over for this time. Now Your old rainy weather is coming in instead. Personally I think it could have waited two more days so that we ho work during the week would have been able to enjoy the above 68F temperatures.

Nights are still cold and frosty here tough so the flowers tat do grow upnow must be tough otherwise they’ll freeze to death. Te grass doesn’t seem to mind though so I might actually have to mow it today before the rain i supposed to come.

    Have a great day!

    Christer.

      Hi Christer,
We have a reprieve today with all the sun. It will be gone tomorrow. I am so tired of clouds and rain.

It is the same here at night. It has been going down to the 30’s, but the plants seem fine. The grass is slow growing so I’m happy.

      Have the best Saturday!!
