I suspect MOST of us were introduced to her via “Goldfinger.” It’s one of those songs that seemed to make an immediate impression on people and would continue to do so even if she’d never sung another song. She absolutely OWNED it. Interestingly, I just looked for info about the song on Wikipedia and there are quite a few instrumental covers, but only one or two other singers have ever attempted it. I guess people instinctively knew they’d never come close to matching it or capturing that special “something” Bassey brought to the song, so they just never tried. Smart of them. And it’s John Barry’s very best in my opinion.

Generally not my kind of song, but Dame Bassey blows the roof off with this one! Thanks for introducing it to me.

im6,
You are most welcome!! Goldfinger was the first time I ever heard her sing and that blew me away, and I became a fan.

im6,
Her voice raised the rafters with its power. I agree about it being the best.
