“Gray skies are just clouds passing over.”

Now I just sigh. I look out the window and sigh. The ground this morning had a touch of snow left under trees and in the shade. It was raining, but since then, the rain has stopped. The day is dreary, another dreary day in a long line of dreary days.

I’m bored. It’s official now. Nothing interests me for too long. I’ve hunted down movies only to watch them for a few minutes before hunting again. I’ve left a long line of unfinished movies behind me.

When I was a kid, weather phenomenons held my attention. I watched the snow fall. I watched the wind twist trees back and forth during hurricane Carol when I was seven. I loved thunder and lightning storms. The harder the rain fell, the more I liked the storm. I figured rain ought to put its best self forward.

Yesterday I went to the kitchen and left my coffee cup almost filled with coffee on the den table. Henry has never touched my food or drink so I figured I was safe. I’m thinking you know where this is going. When I got back, drops of coffee were on the table. Henry looked smug.

I ordered a delivery of fruit and produce. I got bananas mostly because I need one more for my banana bread and also because I like to eat bananas. I got avocados for guac, hot dogs for tonight, it being Saturday and all, coconut milk, butternut squash and fresh pineapple chunks. The food is coming from Rory’s in Dennisport, a place I’ve never ordered from before today. It should be here any time.

Henry has been chasing Jack. Today Jack jumped on the couch and was followed by a jumping Henry. Jack then jumped on the back of the couch. Henry was confounded. The chase ended.

I don’t get dressed most days, but I do change my cozy ensembles. Today I’m wearing a blue Red Sox sweatshirt from the glory days, the 2007 World Series, a red t-shirt with small sharks across the top and patterned flannel pants. I’m wearing socks and slippers. When I go comfy, all of me goes comfy.

Sunny and warmish here except in the early morning when it was nasty cold. Later the cold wind returned but I could have my kitchen door open for a big part of the day.

I have actually done some work in the garden and checked the big wooden box I got from work last year and where I grew my tomatoes. Time just flew away, why does it never do that at work 🙂 🙂

They have now big red dots on the floors in the grocery stores so we know that we keep the distance to the other customers when we’re in line for paying what we want to buy. The corona has hit the area where I work so everyone do follow the rules without arguing.

    Have a great day!

    Christer.

      Christer,
It is an ugly, cold early evening. I was so cold I even checked the heat, but it was at its usual temperature. Maybe I need to shut the back dog door.

I have touched nothing. My yard needs to be raked, and I am not even close to buying flowers yet.

My sister said her grocery store had arrows up each aisle as each was one way. There were markers showing the distance for waiting at the cashiers. Masks were necessary.

      Have a great day!!

    Hi Kat,
Henry is getting crafty. Not crafty enough to follow Jack up onto the back of the couch, though. Piki Dog would do it. Rocky would probably not as it would be undignified. But I can’t leave food where either of them could get it.

The snow was pretty up here. We went out at 6AM. The dogs headed to the back yard as I followed. A fox came out from behind the neighbor’s fence. Actually, it looked more like a mini coyote. Anyway, we stared at each other for a few seconds and then it ran back behind the fence. Rocky and Piki Dog didn’t see it. They must have smelled it though because they were heads up and sniffing the air like hound dogs.

I’m still not bored yet but I am kind of tired of seeing Bob Ross on Create channel 5 times a day multiple days a week. Too much of a good thing. 😀

    Enjoy the day.

      Hi Caryn,
I think Henry might have figured he is a bit too big for the back of the couch. Even Jack hangs over but he is too smart to get cornered.

There was snow under trees and in the shady spots when I went out this morning, but it disappeared quickly. I did hear birds.

I started a new book today, took a nap and put boxes in the car for the dump. Such an exciting day!

      Enjoy your days!

I have wandered out a couple of times. A 5 am visit to the office, a trip of Papa Joes to get milk and bread. Mrs MDH and I have been walking around the block. I have been listening to Dylan’s new singles and expecting a new album and motivated to dig back into the various box sets. Right now I am deep in to the basement tapes.

      My Dear Hedley,
My days have a sameness which is boring. I like the book I’m reading, but this is the second one in a couple of weeks. I guess I could clean-that’s a rarity.

      Good for you-walking!

    Hi Kat,

When we were living in Dallas in the 1950s my paternal grandmother flew for the first time on an airplane to visit us. My father was in New York on business so he accompanied her. It was February and the sky was cloudy at LaGuardia airport when they departed. After takeoff they climbed above the clouds and my grandmother said to my dad, “I had a feeling it was going to turn out to be a nice day”.

We’ve never ordered groceries on line for either pickup or delivery. My spouse is a very particular shopper especially with produce. I don’t like going to the store for her because I never pick out the produce that she would have picked. Imagine the complaints after having a stranger pick out the vegetables and fruit. 🙂

The county decreed that anyone entering a place of business had to wear a mask. Amazon has disposable masks available online for delivery in July. 🙂 Yesterday, we found a couple of scarves to make into masks to buy groceries when the county judge rescinded the strict mask decree. Now it’s only mandatory if the merchants wants to enforce the decree.

The sun is out with high temperatures in the mid 60s. It’s such a beautiful day we are out driving around and discovering old neighborhoods that are being gentrified. There are so many new apartments going up that hopefully the economy will be able to support all the construction or we will have a huge real estate bust. 😦

      Hi Bob,
Your grandmother had wonderful senses. I do know how she feels when you first climb over the clouds into the sun. I think I had to squint.

I haven’t had any problems with the veggies or the produce. They are always a bit underripe. I love having someone else shop for me.

It is the same here. The merchants are free to decide whether to demand masks or not. I haven’t been to stores in a bit so I don’t know. My friend in New Hampshire said one of her shops was no mask-no entry

The cape from now on will be cooler than most of the rest of the state because the ocean keeps us cooler. Right now it is about 5 degrees. It is cold.

Thanks for putting a smile on my face with Henry’s coffee story. He sounds such good company.

You’re lucky you can have your food delivered a good part of the time. I have to gear myself up (emotionally) to face my weekly trek to Whole Foods. None of the supermarkets here are taking on any new customers in their delivery service.

What are you reading these days? (Or do you have the patience for it?)

    • katry's avatar katry Says:

      Hi Marie,
Henry is a bit crazy. He enjoys chasing the cat. The cat doesn’t seem to mind.

I am not part of a delivery service. I just do an order on line. I have ordered from Stop and Shop, Shaws, Ring’s (a local store) and today’s store Rory’s. Stop and Shop has everything, but Ring’s has the best choices. I’m not complaining, though, as I am just glad for the delivery.
