“If you look the right way, you can see that the whole world is a garden.”

Today is another lovely day, warmer than yesterday, and already 53˚. I have to go to the post office. I wonder how that will work. One at a time would make for a long line as there is always a line at my post office. I’m sending Easter to Colorado.

When I was a kid, I loved the first spring days when I got to put winter away. My heavy coat and mittens went into storage in the cellar. My spring jackets, though, were too lightweight so I sometimes had to wear a sweater underneath. I didn’t care. It was a spring jacket, not a winter coat. I remember walking to school in the chilly mornings. The birds were many and loud. The sunlight was sharp, the air clear. I knew the day would get warmer. Spring mornings have that feel about them. Even now, when I go out to get the papers, I stay outside a little while. I check out the garden and the new buds and flowers. A purple hyacinth has bloomed. The garden is full of surprises.

My grass is getting green. Its winter brown is disappearing. All my day lilies are above ground but not close to flowering yet. This is usually when all the landscapers come out of their winter hibernation. You’d see and hear lawns being raked and gardens being cleared but not this year.

My backyard needs clearing. There are some fairly big branches which fell during the winter. In the back, in about the middle of the yard, one daffodil always blooms. It is color among the grey oak and pine trunks. I wait for it every year.

owed the lawn for the first time and I think I might have been the first in the village to do that 🙂

Yesterday was really warm, today slightly cooler but I can’t say it felt that way.

Those first spring days were wonderful! To bring out the bicycle for the first time and even though I freezed like crazy because why should I have a jacket on 🙂 🙂 it still was wonderful 🙂

    Have a great day!

    Christer.

      Christer,
My neighbor could join you. He cut his lawn today, first in the neighborhood. His front yard is small, but he used a big sit down mower.

I also remember bringing out my bike to ride to school, all downhill going to school. Even if I also got cold, I would never go back to a winter jacket .

A sweatshirt would have been enough today.

      Have a good day!

    Hi Kat,

During this “social distancing” I notice that workers are moving round mowing lawns, repaving streets, replacing roofs and other construction work. I never would have thought these jobs are considered essential. Maybe working out of doors is considered not to easy to transmit the virus. None of them are wearing masks and they are congregating closer than six feet.

I saw a woman yesterday out walking her dog down the street with a mask and surgical gloves. I wonder who she was afraid to get or give the virus because she was walking down the middle of the empty street. 🙂

Today is sunny and we are already in the 80s. Tomorrow we might even get to 90 degrees.

      Hi Bob,
I haven’t seen any construction workers. The only lawn mowing I saw was one guy. Usually when my guys clean my yard, two guys do it. For weekly mowing one guy does it all. I haven’t seen them.

Some stores have a lot of customers wearing masks while others have few. CVS had almost every customer. Ring had one. I think I want one just to keep with me in case a place is masks only.

It was a good day here.

I don’t want to wear a mask because I might meet up with a king or queen.

    Hi Kat,
I haven’t been to my post office box in several weeks. I decided that it wasn’t a good idea to risk my health just to clean junk mail out of my PO Box. The postmaster will just have to leave me a yellow foul card admonishing me for letting it become overstuffed.

Yesterday was lovely up here. My lawn is a disaster except for all the little chionodoxa which are blooming all over it. I love to see their bright blue starry flowers every spring.
Today is not so great. Rainy and cooler. The Christmas cactus needed water so I put it out on the top step. There’s a bright side to everything. 🙂
Enjoy the day and stay well.

      Hi Caryn,
I didn’t go to the post office. I decided it is okay to send the Easter stuff late. I’ll go next week after the rush.

We haven’t had much sun for days or weeks. I keep forgetting. Today is cold. It is another cloudy day. We did have a bit of sun yesterday, but I think it was a teaser. I’m cold.

My garden is really coming to life. I see new things every morning. The sun would be nice.

      Have a great day!
