“We will never finish everything on our to-do lists. It’s not possible, and that is life!”
Today is lovely with a warm sun and a beautiful clear sky. It is a bit chilly at 49Ëš, but I was out talking to my neighbor and didn’t notice. I went out for my newspapers, but they weren’t there. I even looked under the car. I am such a creature of habit that having no papers has broken my morning ritual and left a giant hole. I know I can read on line, but it just isn’t the same.
My neighbor really loves to bake and has been baking cookies. She told me she usually saves a few then sends the rest next door to the kids. Now she eats them all. I asked her why she baked. She said it is calming. It is what she likes to do.
I never did my list yesterday. I started to and saw dust on the table and chairs and so I ended up sweeping and dusting the living room and the dining room. I used a real duster, not the sleeves of my sweatshirt.
Before this, I didn’t go out all that much, maybe three or four times a week. I had my uke lesson and game night and nothing else on my weekly dance card, but I was always willing to add something, but now my dance card is completely empty.
Yesterday was Palm Sunday. When I was a kid, my parents had a picture of, I think, Jesus hanging on the wall over their bed. They kept the palm behind the picture. It was green at first then over time it turned yellow and the frond edges got sharp. Every year on Palm Sunday my father would get the new palm fronds and carefully take away the old ones. I don’t know what he did with them, and I never asked. I didn’t really care.
A car stopped at my little library. I was glad to see her. It is good to know people have found my library. I have a few books to add. I’ll put that on my to do list.
I talked to my friend the other night for close to two hours. You’d think we’d run out of things to say because every day is so similar to the day before, but we don’t. Even grocery shopping forays are fodder for conversation. My dump run had her mesmerized. More is coming. Wait until she hears about my changing my bed.

Hi Kat,
My boss says the something about work. If you finish all your work and there’s nothing left to do then you’re fired or laid off. I guess life is similar. 🙂
Today the sun is back out here with a chance of rain because its springtime in Texas. The last 12 months have been a disaster for our family. In June we had a violant hail storm which left us without electrical power or cable for a couple of weeks. That was the first time we used our homeowner’s insurance for loss of use.
Then, In August my downstairs neighbor began remodeling her condo and started with her bathroom. Since my shower pan was leaking into her shower stall, which she discovered after they removed it. Therefore, I had to have mine replaced. This led us into another ten days of hotel living. Thanks again for homeowner’s insurance. Unfortunately, she tried to collect her insurance deductible from me, to which I told her to go to hell. I explained to her that each person’s insurance pays their owner. After all, her shower stall was redone on her insurance company’s dime. She threatened to take me to court but I think she realized she couldn’t collect anything.
Just when you think bad luck had run it’s course, we had a tornado in October that took the roof off the condo building just 800 ft. from my door. This put us out in a hotel for another 15 days until the power and the cable was back working. This morning we were awakened by the sound of trucks outside on the street unloading the roofing materials to replace the roofs on all the standing buildings from the hail storm in June.
Now, we have the Corona virus which has us staying home and getting under each other’s feet and furloughed me from work.
I’m ready for some good luck to come our way.

Hi Bob,
It is true. Never look like you have finished your work. Who wants to be expendable?
I would have thought that being in a condo means fewer house repairs than I might have with a whole house. I have never lost electricity for longer than a week, but I still want a generator. I have less patience than when I was younger.
If she were not remodeling and the leak started problems in her bathroom, I’d think she’d then want you to pay the deductible but not if she is remodeling. I remember when you were staying for so long at a hotel. I’d forgotten about the tornado. I don’t know if I have loss of use I my policy. When I lost electricity, the whole cape lost electricity.
I think the virus is getting to you! Take a walk. Buy one lottery ticket.

I would certainly check that you have loss of use on your homeowners policy. I’m going to check to be sure mine will last more than one year. The neighbors who were put out down the street will not be able to get into their rebuilt units for at least 18 months from now. The building hasn’t even been razed.

I will check. I just got my new policy.

65,3F as warmest here today, too bad I had to work all the time 🙂
Palm anything is very rare here so here they use twigs of willows instead but only on Palm Sunday and I think they throw the twigs in the compost now days or just put them in water, willow creates new roots on those twings anbd can easily be replanted later on.
We are still waiting for reality to catch up on us at work but oddly enough we get more and more things to do. Well sooner or later reality will hit us in the face and when it does I do hope we’ll have nice weather 🙂
Have a great day!
Christer.

Christer,
It stayed a bit chilly here but it was also sunny. I didn’t do much, but there’s really not all that much to do. I can only clean so much. Maybe I should look at it as money saving.
No palms near us so I guess they were shipped in from more tropical states. I remember when I saw my first palm tree in Ghana. I was so excited. It was like a dream.
We are all holding out breaths here that the giant flare up they are predicted won’t happen.
Take care!
