Lynn Johnston quote

My youth was spent fighting many wars and outlaws with cap guns. We made believe we were Audie Murphy or John Wayne. In my elementary school we were Johnny Reb fighting those damn Yankees. Then Disney brought us Davy Crockett and we switched to coon skin hats and fringe jackets.

Bob,
My brother got a rifle one Christmas and packages of rolls of caps. He and his friends were also cowboys or soldiers. I remember him shooting in the house and my mother yelling, “No caps in the house.”
I pounded rocks on caps. I remember there were burns marks on the rocks when I’d finished. It was fun.

We did that and scraped them on the sidewalk with our shoe and they popped. Without iPhones or iPads we had to make do with low tech toys. π

The caps were a simple fun thing to do. I didn’t think about using my shoe.
