Since Kodak stopped making Kodachrome film, how will anyone in the future know what he is singing about? Come to think about it how will anyone know about photographic film? 🙂
Lots of songs have anachronisms we don’t even notice. The typewriter song is one which comes quickly to mind.
This song is a homage to film which was discontinued in 2009, “Kodachrome – they give us those nice bright colors / They give us the greens of summers / Makes you think all the world’s a sunny day”)
As you know I used Nikon for ever, but their failure to respond to the mirrorless movement caused me to switch to Olympus.
I read Nikon are really struggling with product design as the market for the SLR has slumped.
iPhones and mirrorless and Nikon is, well, not the dominant force they once were
MDH,
I’m thinking I need a new camera as I am having trouble with the Nikon. I need a new phone too so maybe I need to put my money into a hone rather than a camera.
I used to sell cameras and photography equipment in the early 1970s and Nikon bodies were the choice of professional journalist photographers. A photographer from the Dallas Times Herald newspaper told me he could run thousands of rolls of film through the camera without it jamming or failing. National Geographic photographers couldn’t just get a new body when their camera shutter failed in the Himalayas or Antarctica. I couldn’t afford Nikon so I had an Olympus camera.

I always wondered how many Nikon cameras this song sold

MDH,
I’m guessing many. Songs do have a huge influence. Besides, Nikon is a good camera.

Bob,
I had a Nikon. What I liked is all their lenses fit all their cameras, new or old. They take great photos.
