“Everyone else reached the Shores of Sleep, but I remained oceans away.”
Winter still holds the upper hand. Today is cloudy and cold with periodic snow flurries. The strong wind is whipping even the sturdy oak trees back and forth, back and forth. The sun appears then disappears behind the dark clouds. Luckily I haven’t need to go anywhere and can stay home cozy and warm. I’m going to do nothing constructive.
Henry is restless. He wanders up and down the hall, turns and stares at me then wanders some more. He’s brought a couple of toys to the couch and is now chewing on his Christmas elf, a stuffing less shadow of what it once was.
Yesterday for game night I made tapioca. My mother used to make it all the time. It was one of my father’s favorite desserts as well as one of mine and my sister’s. I like it either hot or cold though I mostly eat it cold. The taste is a memory.
My muse is resting. Last night I read for a while then finally fell asleep sometime after three. I’m still tired which, for me, translates into being easily distracted. I read one paper, checked my e-mail, then read another paper. I tried to watch a couple of movies, but neither one has held my attention. I’m now watching Logan’s Run, a movie I’ve seen before, a couple of times, so I don’t need to give it my full attention. I can let my memory fill in the blanks.
I’ve run out of words. I think I’ll get a cookie.

Hi Kat,
Try a nap. When I don’t sleep well I come home and take a short nap while watching TV before dinner. Even when I do sleep well the watching the Evening news and I’m snoring according to my spouse.
They say you require less sleep when you get older but I disagree because every retired old person I know takes a nap in the afternoon. Actually, it’s a luxury in some countries to close all the businesses between noon and three and snooze for a couple of hours. In my younger years I might shortened the nap time after making love, hence the term nooner. In Spanish the nap is called a siesta. Of course the businesses reopen at three and don’t close until at least seven. 🙂
I was thinking why Robert Kraft didn’t just get abhotel room and order a high class escort. Obviously, he can afford it. Maybe it was a spur of the moment thing. “Let’s stop off on the home for a quickie. 😦
Today the sky is again clear with mild temperature of 41 degrees. We might not make it to the forecast high of 65.

Hi Bob,
I do love naps but many times a nap interferes with my night’s sleep. My naps have to be early or not at all. I have found that I need 8 hours sleep. The good thing about being retired is that I can sleep later in the morning to make up for the late bedtime. This morning, though, I woke up far too early.
It is in hot countries where the siesta continues, where noon is generally the hottest part of the day. The post office in my town closed from noon to two. My students were supposed to be in their dorms from 2 to 4. Most of the businesses in town did not close but everything slowed down. The shops closed earlier than 7.
I had the same thought about Kraft. Why go to a strip mall when you can have a high class “escort” come to your hotel room?
It ended up a sunny day, but it never got warm.

Sunny and warm over here today and it was wonderful to take Nova for a short walk on my break at work.
I’ve never eaten tapioca but I’ve put it on my list om must eat before I die 🙂
Have a great day!
Christer.

Christer,
It is cold and will get even colder tonight. Snow starting tomorrow afternoon, two to five inches.
Tapioca is wonderful. We loved it as kids, and my taste for it hasn’t changed.
Have a wonderful day!!
