“I enjoy celebrating Valentine’s Day. It’s a nice way to say you’re thinking about your family, someone special, or dear friends.”

It’s Valentine’s Day. My friend brought me flowers, red carnations perfect for the day, and a Valentine’s Day balloon. My sister sent a card and some chocolates, caramel sea salt dark chocolates, my favorite of all. Every time I go into the kitchen, I eat one. They won’t be around for too long.

Today is winter. Yesterday hinted of spring. The sky was mostly cloudy earlier, but the clouds are giving way to blue. The birds are at the feeders. The red spawn of Satan was around yesterday checking out the feeders, but I don’t see him today.

I am watching disaster movies, bad disaster movies, and that’s being complimentary. So far there have been earthquakes, monstrous hurricanes, dinosaurs and giant killer bees. Tubi is the station I’m watching. The films are all imitations of better films. 30,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Independence Wars Insurgence, Snakes on a Train and The Day the Earth Stopped are prime examples, but my favorite bad movie, Iron Sky, is on Amazon Prime. In it, the Nazis fled Earth in 1945 and built a huge fortress on the dark side of the moon where they have waited to return to Earth and to power in the year 2018.

I’m going to do random chores today. I want to make orange cookies and some chocolate chip cookies. My plants need watering. Did I mention my laundry? It’s becoming a dirty word.

Yesterday I got dressed and went out. Today I’m staying close to home and I’m wearing my coziest clothes. They just happen to be red.

I watched most of Iron Sky and I liked it. I couldn’t see it all because it was a work day the day after. I think they’ve done a sequel too but I missed that one.

Very spring like here today, no sun but rather warm and they say it will continue for at least ten more days 🙂

Doing nothing at all, I barely have the energy to get up in the morning 🙂 🙂 I have eaten a couple of hard breads though but mostly been drinking rose-hip soup and blueberry soup.

    Have a great day!

    Christer.

      Christer,
I didn’t like it as much as you did. Maybe I should give it another chance.

It is cold today, but tomorrow will e warmer then it will be cold again. The weather is weird. It is too early for spring.

I can’t believe how long this flu has lasted for you. It is horrible. I do hope you’ll get better soon.

      Get better!!!

    Hi Kat,
Valentine’s Day is Rocky’s birthday so that’s what I celebrate. He’s 10 years old today. The birthday dinner was broccoli, green beans, sweet potato and chicken tenders. There is a photo on Facebook but they scarfed theirs so fast I couldn’t get a shot with actual food on the plates. They might get peanut butter for dessert later on tonight.

Today looks better than it is. Very sunny, temps above freezing but the wind is nasty cold. And there is still ice in inconvenient spots which made walking around interesting.

Enjoy the day and those caramel sea salt dark chocolates. I might be envious of those. 😉

      Hi Caryn,
Give Rocky a hug from Henry and me. What a great birthday dinner!! Henry likes fruit and veggies which Gracie did not so he would have loved the dinner. I’ll check out the picture. I’d have scarfed it down quickly too!!

      Definitely be envious!

      Have a great evening.

How I love to hear about your days Kat! I feel guilty because my feeders have been empty for 3 days-rain, sleet and a bad cough here have all prevented me from taking care of them, but I look outside every time I pass the window.

      splendid,
My fingers froze when I filled the feeders. I don’t know why I didn’t use gloves, but it was worth the cold fingers to get ahead of the storm.

I’m sorry you’re sick. Lots is going around now. I hope it won’t last long.

      Take care of yourself.

    Hello Birgit
Yes, somewhere I was sitting at a bar watching Tottenham Hotspur throw in a spectacular second half and stick 3 THREE past Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League. It isn’t over yet of course but we made an awfully good start.
    Salutations to the Bochum Belle

      Hedley,
I heard most of the 2nd half on my way home. No fun. I would have loved to sit in a bar and watch the first half 🙂
      Congratulations, Tottenham!
Next month in Dortmund, I just hope it’s less embarrassing.

    Hi Kat,

It’s Valentine’s Day again and I actually bought my wife a card. Since I consider it a Hallmark holiday I usually save the money on the traditional stuff. On Saturday we are going out to see a musical downtown as our Valentine’s Day present. The card was a bit of icing on the show. 🙂 I just read that the Roman’s got naked and whipped each other with whips made from the skin of a sacrificial goat for fertility in mid February. I will go for chocolate myself and skip the pain.

Besides the sun the high temperature this afternoon was 75 degrees and we are expecting 71 tomorrow. Unfortunately, winter should return by Saturday with a chance of freezing precipitation by Tuesday.

      Hi Bob,
I alway think of it as a day to say not only that you are love, but I thank you for everything. My thoughtful friend gave me a couple of cards, a balloon, flowers and candy. He never forgets. I am always touched by his gifts. He and his wife are my two best friends who have come family.

I think going to a play is a wonderful gift.

Leave it to the Romans to up the game!!

It is 27˚ right now but will get warmer tomorrow, into the 40’s. If there is no wind, that is a great temperature.
