Who knew back in the day that a robot vacuum cleaner would look like a frisbee instead of a French maid. 🙂

I prefer a bit of personality in my robot cleaner; however, the problem might be that the frisbee can go under chairs and couches.

Just today I read that a church not too far away has a robot now to bless visitors. Some people like it, others damn it. Whatever, it’s a crazy world.
If not geo-blocked you can see the robot here (regional public TV/radio):

Unfortunately, there are churches where profits are more important than people. One of those TV evangelists was a student of mine. Since I worked with him in 1998 he must be a billionaire with his own airport north of Ft. Worth and a fleet of airplanes. I’ve seen his TV broadcasts in countries all over the world. I think he attended the “close cover before striking school of ministry and heavy machinery”. 🙂 Having a robot giving blessings is along the same that same line. I would expect that at the “First Church of The gooey death and discount house of worship” in Del Rio Texas where they have a drive-in baptismal car wash. 🙂

      Birgit,
I find the robot a bit scary and doubt I’d wanted a robotic blessing. I’d almost expect to get my fortune.

Bob, in this case it’s mainly to get attention (which works) and to get young people into church which probably doesn’t work. The funding of the main christian churches is different here (and the church-state-connection has to be criticized) so money is not the problem but parishes need more people otherwise their church will be closed. Christian churches are mainly for old people nowadays and more and more parishes have to merge. Bad for people who still attend services but good for society in times when conservatives and right-wingers want to misuse religion for identity politics again.
