4 Comments on “Three Button Hand Me Down: The Faces”
The first album of the newly constituted Faces, with Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood (previously the Small Faces with Stevie Marriott) was the decidedly shaky “First Step”. Certainly arguable that 3BHMD was the best of the bunch.
“Long Player” and “A Nods” captured a little bit of the magic, but this was a band that you really had to see live. Boozy, rowdy and blistering R&B when Rod was really Jack the Lad and not the Jackass.
Ian McLagan and Ronnie Wood are gone, but the memories live on of a once great band
Lovely pick Kat and thanks for pulling up some memories
My Dear Hedley,
I did not know the history of The Faces nor could I have named any of them. I always expect you to fill in the gaps when it comes to groups from the “old country.”
I listen to so many songs before I choose which to post. This was an easy choice.
