Ol’ Reg was riding high in 75 on the back of GYBR and to a lesser extent Caribou. The release of Captain Fantastic and the Dirt Brown Cowboy was accompanied by the news that it was going to be the most expensive single album issued.
Honestly I cant remember if it was over 3 pounds or 4 pounds or something like that but I bought it anyway and it just wasn’t very good. There were only one or two Elton John new album purchases left in me but I did see him the required number of times including the tour with Billy Joel
His retirement tour rolls on for 3 years probably culminating with an extended appearance in Vegas. I skipped it.
My Dear Hedley,
I would have liked to have seen him early on. Many of the songs he released then were favorites.
I had to laugh about the cost of Captain Fantastic and the Dirt Brown Cowboy. Little did the you from back then imagine how much some music will cost in the future and how happy you would be to buy it.

I’d skip Sir Elton as well.
