Spaceman,
I think I was drooling by the end.

I thought you might find some small amusement with it. They haven’t gotten any smarter in 40 years. But hey, an Al.com editorial writer received a Pulitzer last year for opinion pieces that were horrid in both style and content.

Spaceman,
I have friends who contend that as long as the speaker or writer can be understood the grammar doesn’t matter. One of them is a musician. I asked him if an off tune singer made a difference. How about someone playing an instrument? He said it made a huge difference, but there was no crossover to grammar for him.

Excellent response (to the musician). You would think they would have a editor review everything. Al.com is an internet supplement to the print editions of the newspapers from the larger cities in AL, which are printed 3 time a week. Many states have similar. Most of these type articles never show up in the print editions. I get the impression that the lesser writers are contracted to write articles and don’t put much effort into them. It still annoys me to no end to see sloppy work – as an English I teacher know it does you. Go into grimace and wonder “what on earth is this” mode.

Spaceman,
I find that spell check and the like are fallible. I used a grammar corrector for about a week. It had the nerve to correct my grammar which wasn’t wrong. I deleted the program. Spell check is often wrong. I know it doesn’t do well with things like to or too. People are far better editors than programs.
