“It’s worth everything to be in the World Series.”
We survived the nor’easter. The ground and deck are littered with oak leaves, many of them yellow. The front lawn is pine needle territory. The street is still wet. The sun is in and out. I’m hoping it will stay in, but I’m skeptical.
When I was a kid, Sunday was a boring day this time of year. Church was in the morning and Sunday dinner was in the afternoon. Sometimes we’d go visit my grandparents. My grandmother, my mother and any aunts who were there stayed in the kitchen seated around the table. They’d chat. The stove always had a pot of hot pasta in tomato sauce. The table had a chunk of cheese and a grater. My father and my uncles stayed upstairs in the living room to watch football games. My cousins and I used to play in the yard or on the street. I loved East Boston where my grandparents lived. On many corners there were small stores. The one near my grandparents had a woman behind the counter. She was always sitting in a chair with her elbows on the counter. I had a dime to spend, compliments of my grandfather. We’d leave to go home in the early evening. Sometimes I fell asleep in the car. I knew we were close to home when I saw the house with a huge horseshoe over the garage. That house and horseshoe are still there. I checked.
I have nothing on my to do list for today. The laundry needs to be leaning against the cellar door before it makes me guilty enough to pay it any attention. The trash is high but it’ll keep. I’m going to read the rest of my papers, go through the catalogs I got yesterday and maybe even nap. I was up until three after the Sox won last night. Tonight is the last game in LA. I hope it is the last game of all. Go Sox!

On the evening after a horrendous domestic terrorist attack in Pittsburgh, it’s good to know that our President is tweeting advice to the Dodger manager on handling his pitchers. Sadly the 97 year old victim was a holocaust servivor who died at the hand of a modern day Nazi. POTUS and his minions have continually given a wink and a nod to hatred and advocated violence against minorities and the press which stirs up the craziest of his followers. May the victims memories be a blessing.
Tonight’s game will probably be the last game of the 2018 season. I hope the Dodgers can put it together and go back to Boston because I want to see more great baseball. π
More sunshine and warm temperatures.

Bob,
I was blown away by that tweet about Dave Roberts. Wasn’t the president watching the news? He should have been talking about the newest victims killed by that hate spewing gunman. Trump’s solution? An armed guard. I do not want to see my country become an armed camp..

Unfortunately, as a result of electing Republicans and with the aid and guidance of the NRA we already live in an armed camp. My coworkers are still angry that my company prohibits, under the right to carry law, to bring their concealed weapons into the training center. I have no idea how many people are packing everyday going to work or on the freeways. I don’t give anyone the middle finger while driving because you never know who might shoot at me.

Bob,
I only know one person with guns, and he is a collector of guns, not a user. We’ve yet to become an armed camp here.

Spaceman,
I sometimes feel insulated here where I live. The cape has its problems, the same ones as the greater world, but we have yet to have such a tragedy. I know it could happen here as well as anywhere.
I haven’t categorized these tragedies by the administration. That they are tragedies is enough.

All they need is one more win. I’m hoping it will be tonight.

Yesterday I managed to hit my left thumb with a sledgehammer π π and it has kept on bleeding all night. Not a lot though but enough to keep me at home from work today. Powder paint has an amazing ability to go through any kind of bandage and if it gets into the injury it tends to stop the injury to heal.
I guess that it is better that it bleeds because otherwise my thumb would be bigger than my hand right now π π π It doesn’t hurt that bad, only when the nerves sort of reboot just to make sure they still work π π π
Snowstorm here this morning but it will all melt away by tomorrow so I’m not that bothered about it.
Have a great day!
Christer.

Christer,
Yikes, that sounds like something I’d do.Be careful with it. I’d hate for it to get infected.
I washed the wrong side of a knife and have a tiny slit, but it didn’t bleed and doesn’t hurt.
I think it is too early for snow!!
Have a great day!
