“He imagines a necessary joy in things that must fly to eat.”

Okay, I solved my problems, but it took a while. First I was able to get my computer to recognize the network it has been using for years. The iPad was next. It took a bit of trial and error, but it too fell in line. Alexa was the most stubborn. She today refused to comply. She said over and over that she was not connected to the internet. I told her to shut up. She didn’t hear me. I went on line and was able to find a page of instructions which I followed step by step. Hooray! Alexa was back on-line.

By the time I was finished, it was getting late so I left to do errands. It was raining again. I saw the sun when I woke up the first time, but it was gone by the time I rolled out of bed.  I’m sure there is some adage to cover late risers and the rain, but I didn’t really mind it. I treated myself to lunch at Jerry’s. My relationship with Jerry’s goes back to high school. It was one of the few places open after Labor Day. It served mostly pizza and burgers in those days and Jerry’s was the hot spot after football and basketball games. The parking lot was always filled. Jerry would yell out the window and tell us to buy something or leave. Jerry was Greek so he was sometimes difficult to understand. The Saturday Night Live cheeseburger, cheeseburger skit always reminded me of Jerry’s.

My bird feeders were the places to be this morning. I had wondered where the goldfinches had gone, but they were back today. Two or three at a time were at the thistle feeder. The chickadees too were around and munching from the sunflower seed feeders. I saw nuthatches and titmice. The big feeder was swaying, but I couldn’t see why until I saw the bird’s tail. It was a bluejay.

When I went to Agway for cat and dog food, I bought more sunflower seeds and another thistle feeder. Now the birds won’t have to wait in line.

Welcome back to the world wide web 🙂
Call me old-fashioned but no Alexa or whatever these devices are called will enter my home as long as I have a choice.
This is the first year I filled my bird feeder the whole year round and not only on freezing cold winter days because of this crazy weather and the ongoing lack of insects. Mainly tits and robins and some finches are at the feeder. A virus has killed many black birds and the population hasn’t recovered yet. I miss them.

      Thanks,Birgit.
This morning was frustrating. It happened over night that everything disconnected from the network. It was a weird divine intervention.

Alexa is actually fun.She plays the music I request, tells stories and plays games. She is a wonderful alarm clock, but she tells really bad jokes.

Usually feed the birds all year long, but it was hit or miss this summer. I have plenty of seed now so the birds will be fed from now on. I do like to watch them.

And, you think you have trouble? I took a day off and our internet and cable TV from AT&T went away at 10:45 this morning. It wasn’t just us it was all of their subscribers in North Texas. The entire DFW area all the way to Waco. This morning a lighting strike started a fire in their Richardson switching office that knocked out both their primary and backup systems. It’s still out and they hope to get it back up by tomorrow. I’m tethering my iPad through my Verizon cell phone. Thank goodness for unlimited data on the phone.

We want to see the movie “First Man”. It was terrific because it is another Stephen Spielberg film. During the launch scene the projectors went out because of a power glitch. It came back on in about five minutes. Even though I know how it ended I was glad to see the entire film.

It rained all day. Just a steady cold rain. I don’t think we got out of the 50s. We’ve had a ton of rain since the first of September and we’re only half way through October, our second highest month for rain. Let me see, how many cubits long, by how many high. 🙂

      Bob,
I would have been driven crazy if I lost everything. It is bad enough after a winter storm but not this time of year. Good thing indeed that you had that phone. It is awful that it was on your day off.

That movie got great reviews. It is on my list of movies to see, maybe later in the week. I was in Africa and didn’t see the moon landing. I did hear it on the radio and saw the film of it when I got home.

We had the same weather here. It rained heavily in the morning and less so in the afternoon, but it was 60˚.

Finally, the cable and WiFi are back. It seems like the Red Sox and Astros is going to be a great series. 100% chance of rain tomorrow. 😦

        Bob,
I’m watching the weather right now, and the rain will continue all night, and the cold is coming, the upper 40’s by morning.

If those first two games are an indication, I agree about it being a great season.
