RESPECT: Aretha Franklin
We knew it was coming. Her family and friends were with her. Aretha passed away today. The Queen of Soul has died.
“Aretha is a gift from God. When it comes to expressing yourself through song, there is no one who can touch her. She is the reason why women want to sing.”

This is one of those ones where I had to think about whether or not to comment. As Ms. Franklin is lionized in passing her talents and influence on popular music are rightly acknowledged
For those of us who had personal business dealings with Ms Franklin, the relationship could at best be described as stressful and unfulfilling.
She lived in Metro Detroit, spending most of her time at her home on Lone Pine Road in Bloomfield Hills where more challenges prevailed right until her passing.

My Dear Hedley,
I can judge her on only her music. She had the most amazing voice, unsurpassed. I posted these songs in tribute to her voice.
I suspect many of our icons lead and have led less than kind lives. A personal relationship sometimes tarnishes everything. I understand your conundrum.
