      Bob,
I totally disagree so does Wikipedia, “”Downtown” was the first of 15 consecutive Top 40 hits Clark achieved in the United States, including “I Know a Place,” “My Love” (her second U.S. No. 1 hit), “A Sign of the Times,” “I Couldn’t Live Without Your Love,” “This Is My Song” (from the Charles Chaplin film A Countess from Hong Kong) and “Don’t Sleep in the Subway.”[8] The American recording industry honoured her with Grammy Awards for “Best Rock & Roll Recording of 1964” for “Downtown” and for “Best Contemporary (R&R) Vocal Performance of 1965 – Female” for “I Know a Place.” In 2004, her recording of “Downtown” was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.”

According to Billboard Pet was to enjoy 15 Top 40 hits, USA way

Now one of the lovely things about Downtown is that Jimmy Page played guitar and enjoyed his first US success. Hard to understand why he wanted to form Led Zeppelin!

To take it one step further Page and Pet were both from Epsom….hang on a sec…me too, why wasn’t I on Downtown ?

      My Dear Hedley,
I’m thinking they didn’t know you were available. Really, who would think Hedley was still around?

You are always a wealth of information!

I am rather good at Epsom. Yes Page Motors in Epsom was long established and I believe owned by Jimmy’s Uncle. My Mum bought her green mini there

        Dazed and Confused ?

I love your blog. Never left comment but your memories and Petula Clark really got me needing to leave one. Hers was the very first album I owned! Thank you for posting.
