I am a half-way Elvis fan. I love some of his songs and dislike others. This is one I like.

I like his slow songs more than the others. I even have watched a few of his movies. Love Me Tender is a heartbreaker.

He radically changed the face of music of that era. A guaranteed way for men to get in trouble right quick with southern women is to say anything remotely negative about the King. Much safer to bad mouth their mothers or their children; that can be forgiven. But bad mouthing Elvis – you be in a world of hurt forever.
I saw him live about 30 years ago. Sold out arena of about 10,000 people in the middle of the week. He did put on a show.
I think this was the only song Alannah Myles ever charted. Pretty sultry stuff; Still hear it fairly regularly on the radio. Paean to the Tupelo boy, who made the big time.

I have an aunt who is a major Elvis fan. She has lunch boxes,socks and all sorts of Elvis memorabilia. I always knew what to give her for Christmas.
I don’t know why Elvis wasn’t bigger for me. I’m thinking it was because I got hooked on folk music when I was thirteen or fourteen. I had every Peter, Paul & Mary album and saw them in concert a few times. I did like all those 50’s songs and had a wonderful collection of 45’s. I don’t remember my friends being Elvis fans either back then.
I’d never say a bad word about Elvis.

A velour portrait of Elvis always a great gift. Pinnacle of high art. And a visit to Graceland is an expected pilgrimage for Southerners at some point in their lives – so I’m told.

I have see somewhere a velour Elvis. I remember the black background and Elvis posed with this guitar as if he were playing.
Graceland has always been on my list of places to see. I remember a great special about it. The film showed the room, the warehouse where so much is archived and the changing exhibits. It also showed the hotel across the street with a room exactly like one in Graceland. It was fascinating.
