In September 1971, an extremely young MDH and a few chums made their way to The Oval in Vauxhall for the Goodbye Summer Concert for Bangladesh
It was one of those dreaded outdoor things and we sat through Mott the Hoople, America, Atomic Rooster, Cochise (I kid you not) Lindisfarne, Quintessence and a whole bunch of guff.
It was early evening and out strolled the guy in a leopard skin outfit with his chums once known as the Small Faces but now the Faces. And Rod Stewart ripped in to it. the microphone stand floated in air and R&B filled the old cricket ground.
The Who finished the evening. I trolled around after Rod Stewart and the Faces until they finally bust up in 1975. Rod went from Jack the Lad into some sort of Vegas Cabaret act, But back in the day he was just sensational
Great pick today Kat, thank you

My Dear Hedley,
I have deleted all the comments on the wrong song.
Most of the groups you sat through I haven’t ever heard of, but I do like Lindisfarne’s Fog on the Tyne album.
Of course you saw Rod. I love his leopard skin outfit and remember how thin he was in the early days so he must have worn it well. Then The Who!! What a long night but with a wonderful ending.
You are always welcome!!
