Western movies with singing Cowboys were a fictitious version of the old west and the frontier. They were popular until the 1960s when that new frontier, space travel replaced them. I moved to Texas when I was almost seven and discovered that very few men wore ten gallon hats or boots. This lasted until the 80s when the movie ‘Urban Cowboy’ revised the cowboy genre and Texans discovered their roots. π

Bob,
I never did think singing cowboys were realistic presentations of the old west, but I did enjoy Roy and Gene. I figured every day people didn’t wear hats and boots, but I do know ranchers still do.
I’m not a big fan of cowboy movies.
