Richard L. Ratliff quote

Sometimes they were called Washaterias or Launderetts. When I was single I used to bring my underwear, sheets and towels to the Washateria where a person would do my wash and fold the clothes then wrap them in paper. It was called bundle service.
After being married for a long time I sometimes wonder if it would have been more economical to stay single without kids and pay for all those domestic services. 🙂

Bob,
I don’t remember any launderettes when I was young. There were cleaners for shirts and stuff but that is all. My father used to call them cleansers. I found out that is the word used only in Boston where my father lived for awhile.
I have house cleaners, landscapers and plow guys. Not much is left for me except the laundry.

Today’s theme offers me the perfect opportunity to share one of my favorite songs from way back when. I’d never noticed it until today, but it’s very Drifter-ish. Be sure to rinse well.

im6,
It is definitely Drifter-rish. I like it. The lyrics are wonderful. Who would think of soap as washing away tears.
