Training wheels were all the rage in the early 1950s when the baby boomers started kindergarten or first grade. My father held onto the seat while I pedaled down the street. When he let go I looked back in terror and found him standing a couple of hundred feet back. I could ride by myself and the training wheels came off the bike.

Bob,
I didn’t know a single kid who had training wheels. We all learned to bike the same way you did but only on two wheels.
