Live and learn. I had no idea the Love Unlimited version wasn’t the original, but it was a 1973 cover of this original version from 1967. Barry White was involved in both versions. Must confess I like the remake better, but not nearly as much as Love Unlimited’s “Under The Influence Of Love,” which is one of the best single’s of all time (although I prefer the extended DISCO version!). I probably like it because it holds SOOOOO very many memories for me.Thanks for broadening my musical education today!
im6,
For the most part I try to post the original versions though I’m not always successful in knowing one from another. I do a bit of hunting.
I listened to Love Unlimited but was taken by the Motow-nish sound of this one. It oozes Barry White’s influence.
Certain music does carry memories. The simplest for me is Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head. I was in the Peace Corps hostel in Ghana when I heard it for the first time and asked what it was. I think of that every time now if I hear it.
You have broadened my musical education so quid pro quo.
