Stephan Merritt and the Magnetic Fields and for sure 69 Love Songs is their moment of absolute magic. Claudia Gonson and I are email pen pals every now and again. A couple of years ago she was kind enough to have a tour poster signed by everyone when the MFs appeared in Pontiac. I asked if she would play “The Death of Ferdinand De Saussure” for me if we got a big enough crowd.
She responded appropriately that it would be one time in a “gay piano bar in Manhattan”
It all ties together of course, and I love the Magnetic Fields. Super duper pick for a Friday Kat.

My Dear Hedley,
Thank you!! I knew this was the perfect song. His voice raises this song to a different dimension.
It is amazing the number of songs of late I have chosen which strike a chord with you. I’m happy for that.
By Claudia Gonson’s responses, her kindness to have the poster signed and her wonderful reply to your question, I think I would like her.
