      minicapt,
I haven’t seen most of the cars in Ghana from this story. We used to call the vehicle posted a mammy lorry. It was a horrible ride. We had to climb up and climb down which wasn’t easy in a dress which was what women had to wear when I lived there. There was no way to hold on so you bounced all over when riding on laterite roads and I can’t even describe the dust into the open part of the lorry.

The Mercedes Benz was the most common car of people with money. The principal at my school had a Peugeot. I can still remember her sitting up tall in the driver’s seat.

The Peace Corps used Land Rovers.
