German orthography proudly presents the letter “ẞ”.
We officially got this uppercase letter some weeks ago. Nice to have but in normal writing you don’t need it because just the lowercase ß (sharp s) is used, it’s just more consistent and unambiguous now when you use it to fill in forms in capital letters. New life for a dying letter.

I think it is quite rare to get a new letter, but I do get that using a capital letter is sometimes a necessity. Congrats on a new member of the family!@
