There is something so sad about this song. The old man asking for a memory is tinged with the sorrow of lost years. John wanting to be elsewhere as this place was killing him. Everyone mentioned in the lyrics wants to be somewhere else. Even the piano man has a bit of poignancy about him.

Very reminiscent of the movie and book, ‘Hidden Figures’. The computer industry has come a long way since the first mainframes in the 1950s. And woman were a big part in the software development while the men were into the hardware.
