Sadie the Cleaning Lady: John Farnham

Go ahead. Try to find songs about cleaning. I got desperate.

I’m really pushing the limits of what might qualify, but this is the best I could do.

    Thought of one more…

Joni’s Dry Cleaner From Des Moines comes to my mind, one of my favorites, but it’s late anyway.
The Pink Martini concert was today and it was fun.
Same tour, different location yesterday, Pink Martini with Pata Pata:

I notice that Storm Large (the woman with the world’s largest back tattoo) was the vocalist. Storm’s good, but I was glad the original singer, China Forbes, was at my show. It appears some of the audience was invited onstage to dance (a very sad affair here!). Hope you don’t feel I led you astray.

im6, the concert was really fun and Storm Large has a great voice. People were invited on stage several times, Turkish dance, conga line and more and also the audience was okay, people my age and younger, despite the location. Storm Large often requested to clap along during the songs which is nice because Germans love to do it but is bad when you sit in the back of the hall and want to listen to the music like me. A very professional show, maybe a little bit too professional for me, I missed some honesty but maybe I was just too far away from the stage. I didn’t buy a CD but I may listen live again when I get a seat close to the stage for an affordable ticket price. So it was a really nice and entertaining evening but I’m not a big fan now.

        im6,
I think I have only heard China Forbes before this. I think I have only early albums.

      im6,
You turned me on to Pink Martini, and I am grateful. This is exciting to watch. They all have such energy. Fun is a great description.

I know exactly what you mean about “a very professional show,” Birgit. That sums my reaction perfectly as well. I wanted to get caught up in it all, but there didn’t seem to be many spontaneous moments or reasons to fall under their spell. Still, they can play like crazy and many, many other bands could learn a thing or two about being professional (snark). Storm was a contestant on the CBS reality show, “Rock Star: Supernova” in 2006 (didn’t win) and went on to be the replacement vocalist for PM when China had surgery on her vocal chords in 2011. Now both women sing with the band, but Storm will also be touring this fall with her band, LeBonheur. Here’s a link to a photo of her gigantic back tatto, which says “Lover.”
