“On Sunday mornings, as the dawn burned into day, swarms of gulls descended on the uncollected trash, hovering and dropping in the cold clear light.”

Sunday morning is always quiet for me. I read my two papers and drink my coffee. I always call my sister in Colorado at 11, and we talk for an hour or more. That’s what usually puts me behind the time.

Last night I had Chinese food for dinner. I have been craving it for a while and finally decided it was time to satisfy that craving. Dinner was scrumptious, and I have enough leftover for today. That’s a bonus.

My windows and doors are open, but I suspect it will only be a short while before the heat gets to me as the slight breeze just isn’t enough to counter the hot sun. If I were a tourist, I’d love today. I imagine the beaches are filled. Usually by this time of the day even the beach parking lots are filled.

This morning I started watching The Lady in White. I’ve seen it before, but I liked the movie enough to see it again. It takes place in 1962 at Halloween. The Lady is a ghost. The main character, Frankie, witnesses a murder in his class cloak room which had taken place 10 years earlier. The rest of the movie hinges on that event. When I saw the beginning of the movie this time, I hadn’t remembered how it started. I did remember the rest. That a ghost is an important character doesn’t bother me at all. She is woven into the plot and is as important a character as Frankie.

I have a few outside things to do this afternoon like water the plants on the deck, clean the outside shower before I take one later and check the connections to my lights on the deck and in the yard. None of the lights go on though they’re still connected to timers. One set is on the rail of the deck and two other sets are coiled around trees in the yard. My friend misses the lights and so do I.

Today is dump day. I imagine Gracie will be excited when she sees me hauling the trash bags to the car. I’ll have to open the doors and start the AC before I put her into the car or she’ll pant. Her window has to be open despite the air as she needs to smell the world as we travel. I totally understand.

No tourist region here but I was at our local river with the bike this afternoon and saw many people sun-bathing and swimming. Currently the river has a lot of water, definitely no lack of rain lately.

Last night I heard a podcast which mentioned http://radiooooo.com .
You can listen to music from over the world for free, just choose a country and a decade. You want 1970s music from Ghana? Or music from Greenland to cool down? Just go and click. Some songs don’t seem to work (at least with my computer) but it’s fun.

      Birgit,
That’s nice that people take advantage of the beauty around them. Here the tourists far out number the inhabitants, especially in my village.

“The year-round population of Dennis was reported at 13,945 based on the 1995 U.S. Census. The summertime population estimate is 40,000.1”

I live in a village which is part of Dennis.

I clicked on Ghana in 1970 and heard wonderful High Life music! Thanks!!

Ok, we also had Chinese food last night but had no leftovers. What did you have? We had a sizzling combo plate and MuShu Pork. Unfortunately, the restaurant didn’t use Chinese pancakes but used flour tortillas. I don’t think we will eat at that place again.

Jean Shepard, of the movie “The Christmas Story” fame, speculated on his late night radio show in the early 60s that we all came from garbage. His theory was that aliens came here millions of years ago and had a picnic and left their garbage. The garbage festered and we evolved from the micro organisms that devoured their garbage. 🙂

Guess what the weather will be today in North Texas? If you guessed hot and dry you would be right. Later we are going down to the pool to enjoy the weather from in the water. 🙂

      Bob,
I had mostly appetizers: jumbo shrimp, chicken wings, boneless ribs and beef fried rice to hold it all together. I ordered from my favorite place. I was amazed when I went to pick mine uno as every booth was filled with people waiting for their orders as this is mostly just take-out. I had ordered mine by phone so I had no wait.

I love that theory! We did start as tiny organisms that changed over time and became larger until us. I wonder what will be next?

No rain here at all last night, and I was disappointed.

It would have been nice with chinese food today but it is just too far to the nearest chinese restaurant here and I’ve never been able to do it as good myself.

We’ve had a rather nice day here and I had the etrance door open for a while today because it seems no wasps get in that way. I also had the kitchen door open for a while but even if I managed to kill several they were just too many that wanted to visit my home.

I tried to watch the movie Chapie today but I got tired of it quite early and shut it off. Yesterday I watched San Andreas and even if the special effects were really good it’s just a less good version of 2012 to be honest 🙂 It was on sale so it was worth the money after all but Chapie wasn’t.

My vacation is over and tomorrow I’ll start working again, I didn’t win the lottery this week either 🙂

    Have a great day!

    Christer.

      Christer,
The Chinese pick-up place is about 5 minutes from here. I’m lucky in that within 10 minutes from here are a variety of stores, restaurants and a movie theater.

I have made a few Chinese dishes, and they were tasty. I made sweet and sour chicken, casher chicken and fried rice.

I have screen doors on both doors so I can open them without worrying about the bugs. Al my windows also have screens. I do sometimes get a fly or two, but they seem to hang around the screen doors so I open them and shoo out the fly.

I have also seen San Andreas. The difference between 2012 and that was the whole world was covered with water in 2012 but in the other it was the West Coast, but I also preferred 2012.

Sorry it’s back to work for you.

      Have a great day tomorrow!

    Hi Kat,
I’m not having a craving for Chinese food but I am having a craving for American Chop Suey. I don’t have the ingredients to make it, either.
Today’s chore was to remove the laundry from the dryer. While I was down there, I moved the lawn sprinkler to the other side of the house and let it run for an hour. It’s all hay over that side but there are some hold outs of green grass that might be sustained by the soaking.

It’s pretty nice up here today. I thought it was going to be hot and sticky but it’s okay. There are a lot of clouds around and they block the sun now and then so plenty of cloud shadow, bless its pointy little head, as a friend of mine used to say. I don’t know why. 🙂 Anyway, windows open and no AC today.

    Enjoy the day.

      Hi Caryn,
I can’t remember the last time I had American chop suey. My mother used to make it a lot as it stretched nicely.

My laundry is still in the dryer. I postponed the dump until tomorrow. I did water the plants on the deck. I wasn’t all that accomplished today.

It is hotter now than it was earlier. The breeze has died down. The house is 77˚ but no humidity makes it bearable. It is going to get hot and Boston will have 90˚ for a few days in a row. We’ll be cooler.

      Enjoy the evening!!
